Here's another thought or possibility:

Have a 12 round live draft (maybe 13 w/ ballpark), choosing one player from each month. The highest lottery pick going first and naming the month for the round...similar to a position league draft. Then have a frenzy for the rest of the players....80 or 100 Mil...DH or no DH...

I may be interested depending on what the "rules" are....so I guess you could put me down as an alternate...

Just a thought, but we might be able to generate more interest to fill the remaining spots if we list the per-month available rosters. The listing above was not complete, and I found a great deal of good (*) starters (Lemon, Leifeld, Demaree, Lolich) for September after choosing the month.

But, I think that this isn't the way to do it.... either have it by lottery state to choose, or even more I like the idea of having 12 rounds and one month per round. (Rose's idea)

If someone could check the death months, that may prove to be even more fair.... then to those months add the birth month for those still living.

Just want to qualify that I'm still not totally committed until we get the rules and parameters ironed out. Trading, no trading? I actually think there should be some limitation on the "rich" months like May and December, or some way to equalize those that get the "poor" months. that's why I suggested the 12 round draft for each month. That's not the only way to do it, but there should be some equity. The Over 8 MIL FA is another idea posted. As agabriel said, why would some people play if they didn't at least have the illusion of a chance to compete?

At any rate, I picked a month and put an asterisk by my name. If you fill and want this spot before the rules are decided on, just eliminate my name from the list.

We have 13 managers interested...I thought if everyone picked a month, we could keep everyone happy and then solve disputes later...If someone wants May, I'll flip ya for it.

Here's a thought: we could convert this to a 12 team league, so each of us will get a shot at playing each month (I'm saying this, knowing I have 8 credits for ATGII in the bank).

Another idea: before the draft, we each post our starting players (including platoons, closer and 4 or 5 man rotations). Anyone not listed is considered fair game for the draft as free agents. For example, Yount and Pesky were both born in September. If I list Yount as my starting SS, Pesky is free to sign with any other team.

I agree with FAaron again...In May I have Mays, Simmons, R.Jackson, Combs, Alou, and Gwynn...three of these guys will be in the FA pool after the Autodraft and fair game to everyone...I think the teams will be quite even at $80M or $100M (I prefer $100M) no matter what month you have...It will come down to managing, stadium and division settings, etc...

I'm not just being argumentative for the sake of argument and there are no ill feelings...Picking first from the May list and then deciding who to leave off and picking first from the July list...gives one manager a distinct advantage. Sure March will have a chance to get the "rejects" from other teams, but that doesn't equalize the field. I didn't use May because you have May...and I chose March based on the list posted earlier. Bottom line is, if there are 3-4 months that have a majority of the regularly drafted players...3-4 months that have a few of the regularly drafted players...and 3-4 months that have a limited number of the regularly drafted players...then there is an advantage before [quote:25c8449da8]It will come down to managing, stadium and division settings, etc... Marge, absolutely no hard feelings here...I didn't see a huge advantage to taking any month with a salary cap and making the unprotected players available to all. if that ends up being the rules, I would take any month...If someone really wants May, I will flip you for it...no problem here.

I just thought we could have 12 happy managers with the months they picked...by all means, if you want may, please let me know...it is not fair for me to take May just because I asked for it first (we should do a lottery if two or mor managers want the same month).

Also, there are more players under each month that were not listed...for example, the following players were listed under July...

Some others in July not listes are...Lanier, Canseco, Meusel, Drysdale, Worrell, Keller, W.Wilson, Coveleski, Oliva, Doyle, Lyle and others...I really think no month has a huge advantage...

Doing 12 month all at once could be a huge $ commitment...doing 12 leagues (1 at a time) could be a huge time commitment.

I am not opposed to doing either though.
