Is there any interest in an 80s auction league?

We are near the end though, although those with cash left should have used it yesterday. If you really want a player overbid enough so we dont continue to go up. I have cash left and I will use it on players that I can bid on. There is no reason to have any cash left so use it up now instead of dragging the draft out.[/quote:be2c41f1d8]

Wouldn't the money we have left over be available to bid on players during the season?

Are we able to drop and open players during the preseason?

Trades and Drops

Postby YountFan » Sat Jan 07, 2006 6:18 am

What is the timetable for these? I have two quality CFs in Lynn and Lemon and substandard #B in Bonilla. I would trade Lemon, because I never thought I'd get Lynn. And then maybe consider other options at third. Molitor was always my 3B man but the price got high and Raines was their so...Bobby Bo at third

As it is my team look OK on paper. Maybe not the greatest team in the world, but one that can compete (or at least I hope so)

Raines, lf
Yount, ss
Murray, 1b
Lynn, cf
Aikens/Cedeno, dh
Henricks, rf
Bonilla, 3b
Porter, c
Doran, 2b

The pitching is a bit more suspect.

BJ, who ever gave you that impression? You WILL atone for your sins, my son !!!

YountFan, whenever we can start talking trade, I have a DeCinces and probably a SP or two that we can work in trade --- I have no CF !!

Awesome format, thanks Sogcomando for the great idea, thanks Penn for providing the tools for a bunch of grown men to act like little boys for a couple of weeks !!! AWESOME !!!

Not sure how my lineup will look (besides bad):

R L
Hargrove 1b McGee cf
Smith ss Smith ss
Sandberg 2b Sandberg 2b
Strawberry rf Fisk c
Fisk c Zisk lf
Durham dh Strawberry rf
Lowenstein lf Incaviglia dh
Nettles 3b Durham 1b
McGee cf Presley 3b

SPs: Burns, Drabek, Martinez, Forsch
RPs: Hernandez, Lefferts, Bedrosian, Leach, James

Have a couple of extra SPs and/or Fisk that I would be willing to deal for the right CF or stud DH.

UNCLE, UNCLE, UNCLE :!:   What can I do? Do I bid on Dykstra and possibly lose Wrigley or will Penn just up the Dykstra bid? Or should I bid on Dusty Baker who I'm sure will get no action? Or will he, you evil bastards.

Playing Rickey in CF gives you a lot of other options on the corner. His defense in CF is more than good enough.

Here's my roster. It's ok on paper. I had a blast with the auction and I will be definitely on the hunt for doing another one if another league like this gets started in the future. The draft is definitely at least 50% of the fun but the fun factor jumped up quite a bit in this format. Penn, thanks for your outstanding website. It's a terrific community service.

I hope that I don't breach any league rules as far as trade talk is concerned but if you see something you like on my roster, give me a hollar via private message.

I wouldn't mind upgrading one of my right handed starting pitchers which would make Gullickson, Wegman, or Lamp available on the return side depending on what is offered. I could also spare a reliever or two in a deal as well but honestly, I don't mind having all that depth in bullpen either.

LF is another point of interest for me as well.

Cheers everyone!
