Got Ortiz and Howard!!

Postby HizzyForShizzy » Sun Jan 06, 2008 10:00 am

I didn't expect to land either one but got both. In Kauffman in division w/ another Kauffman, Angels Stadium, and minute Maid. In fact got my top 5 Ichiro, Ortiz, Howard,Scott, and Putz. Do I keep them both even though they are both defensive liabilities? I know they may not produce in a pitcher's park enironment. If I would have known I was going to get both I would have choosen hitter's park. Oh well. Anyway heres the rest of the team. I wil probably look upgrade 3B, 2B, RF, SP, and SS in that order.

Just my opinion but I'd keep Ortiz because he's better balanced but you need to DH him.

I think you need a strong rhb to balance your lefties. Preferably with a high BA and OB. Escobar is a FA and would work and could play RF>

Escobar is on my list. I was leaning towards Ortiz and thinking I could trade Howard for a 2B and 3B.

Ortiz: I've seen him deliver MVP performances in pitcher friendly home ballparks. Papi's da man.

I'm not saying it's the best move and I have had them each struggle at times in pitching parks, but I would keep them both for the heck of it. How many times are you going to get them both? I like to try different things and I think you have a good opportunity to try something. I know I had them both in US Cell and it worked well, but that's a totally different thing.

I really want to keep them both, except I do have other needs that I think they can help fill. So..do I try to put the best team together or do I have some fun and see what happens. Maybe after waivers things will be a little clearer. I have a week to decide, season doesn't start until the 14th.

Except for your home park I would keep them both. I have Ortiz playing 1B and he is having a error problem but not as much as Guerrero is in RF. Hell keep them both. Always makes the other team shiver even if your 10 games back or 10 games in front. Chicks love the long ball!

With all of their natural homers, I think keeping Ortiz and Howard would benefit your lineup greatly even in a pitcher's park. I haven't used Ryan Howard or Kauffman Stadium, but Ortiz played very well for me in AT&T. Your park might keep your opponents in the yard, but it's going to have a very difficult time containing Howard and Ortiz.

I think I'm gonna keep both. I have til Mon to committ. My lineups are looking like this right now.

vs. RHP

Scott
Suzuki
Ortiz
Lowell
Howard
Snyder
Castillo
Marrero
Bettancourt

vs. LHP

Suzuki
Castillo
Ortiz
Lowell
Howard
Scott
Snyder
Betancourt
Denofria

I realize at this point i'm weak vs. LHP and have a hole in RF although i've seen Marrero do well. I have 3 LH starters in division with 2 of those reverse LH. Ross is available in RF, he has more natural power than Murphy.

Does anybody like any of the following over Lowell? Glaus, Aurillia, Ensberg, Derosa? Maybe this is where I can get a hitter stronger against LH.
