JAN 6 - "1969 VIRGINS NIGHTLY HIGHLIGHTLY"

Larry Dierker (24-12) continued his dominant pitching allowing only 1 hit as the orbiting Dead Circuits defeated the Analysis Paralysis by a score of 5 to 0 at Yankee Stadium. Dierker gave up only a 2nd inning double to Richie Hebner and 3 walks with 6 strikeouts in posting his 4th shutout of the season. Dead Circuits manager Major Tom said, "Dierker and Niekro have combined for 47 wins and 622 innings pitched so far this season! You don't know how happy I was when we opened our pocket books this off season and signed these guys. It's pretty nice having two #1 starters on the staff. We should be pretty tough to face in the playoffs with these guys on the hill!"

JAN 7 - "1969 VIRGINS NIGHTLY HIGHLIGHTLY"

Harmon Killebrew hit his league leading 60th HR as the Woodstock Outhouses III topped the Analysis Paralysis 8 to 7 in front of 42,729 fans at Wrigley Field. Wavy Gravy was in a talkative mood in the clubhouse, "Great game! If only we could win all of the close ones - wouldn't that be nice! Since that's not going to happen, I think I'll savor this one for a little while."

JAN 8 - "1969 VIRGINS NIGHTLY HIGHLIGHTLY"

Paul Blair continued swinging a hot bat as he ripped 2 homeruns and scored 4 times as the Orlando Yankees defeated the burnt weeniesandwich by the score of 10 to 6 at Tiger Stadium. Blair smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 1st inning, hit a bases-empty 'big-fly' (his 38th of the season) in the 3rd inning, delivered a base-hit in the 5th inning and doubled in the 9th inning. Blair said, "That was a nice win for us. And it is nice to get some 1969 VIRGINS NIGHTLY HIGHLIGHTLY love. I didn't know if I would ever get some ink. Heck, I hit 3 home runs the other night and didn't get mentioned. I guess it helps when your team wins the game!"

JAN 9 - "1969 VIRGINS NIGHTLY HIGHLIGHTLY"

Felipe Alou hit a two run walk off home run (his 3rd of the season) in the bottom of the ninth inning off closer Peke Mikkelsen (0-4) as the Bakersfield BigRedMachine05 came back to beat the Buffalo Holly Byrds by the count of 8 to 7. This was the kind of game that many fans love as the lead changed hands 6 times. Brooks Robinson went 4-5 and clubbed three home runs in a losing effort. BigRedMachine05 manager John Eigenauer said, "It's great to win a hard fought game like that. Our guys just weren't going to be denied. And with all the sluggers we have, Felipe comes through with the big home run!"

Lee May launched 3 homeruns and had 7 RBI as the Bakersfield BigRedMachine05 defeated the Midnight Cowboy by the score of 12 to 9 at Fenway Park. May had a big day with his bat. He belted a three-run homer in the 1st inning, smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 3rd inning and lofted a three-run bomb (his 56th of the season) in the 7th inning. "It's almost like the ball was trying to hit my bat," May said. "I've been swinging a pretty hot bat. That gives me 5 home runs in the last two days. It's too bad the season is almost over. I'd like to keep playing!"

Congratulations to the four teams that made the playoffs.

I have never played in a $100M league... it was interesting but I now prefer $80M... I thought that the league ERA was a little high.

Thanks for the kind words guys and congrats to the all the playoff teams! I think this was a fun season. I agree the 100 mil cap created some different team rosters, but I enjoyed seeing some pitchers used that I never saw before. We have a new 80 mil live draft league about to start. Any interest for a new 200 mil league with restrictive specific at bat and innings pitched rules? I have not seen this concept used before? Post any suggestions and wish me luck in my series against the #1 overall 1969 player UGRANT! At least he was not the Wild Card team. Vegas has now determined the Wild Card team is the odds on favorite to win it all in every strat playoff! And this league that concept looks pretty legit! Look out for Franky35 and his Dead Circuits bunch to be the team to beat. I guess Niekro and Dierker and their 53 wins may have caught the eye of the bookies in this playoff!

As Carol Burnett said, "I'm so glad we had this time together, just to have a laugh or sing a song, seems we just get started and before you know it, comes the time we have to say... so long. Good Night Everyone!"
