All 8 of his career homers were hit with the Tigers that year in 170 at bats. Never played a game after 1975. I never heard of him and I have that years cards. Awesome obscure player pull!!!!!!

The only Jack Pierce I ever heard of was the Universal make-up artist who created the classic Frankenstein monster, Dracula, Wolfman and Mummy. It's amazing that he also played a season with the Tigers in '75 since he died in 1968!

Aaron in '71 was a great card as well. HR frenquency in basic was greater than Ruth '27.

I don't recall -- it's been over 20 years -- but I'm pretty sure they were in the 1 column (single die), maybe 4, 10-12 (two dice). This was back in the days when homers were rare, so that was more impressive than it sounds.

This prompted me to google ol' Jack, and it turns out that in the early 80's, when my college buddies and I assumed he was a has-been-who-never-was, he was busy tearing up the Mexican League, nearing the end of a Hall of Fame career.

Hey, thanks guys for giving Jack his props.

If anyone finds the card, I'd love to be reminded where the HR's are (or even get a PDF, if that's allowed.)

I've been following this thread and racking my brain to remember a card that caused a stir when it came out. Having no memory at all, I went to baseball-reference.com and found him - Hector Villanuava.

I don't remember what the card looked like, but I think on the advanced side it was particularly nasty, probably against lefties since he was right-handed. He was a reserve catcher for the Cubs, and it must have been his '90 or '91 card.

In 1990 he hit 7 homers in 114 at bats, and in 91 hit 13 homers and 10 doubles in 192 at bats.

Anyone with a better memory than I (ok, that's everyone) remember his card?
