Kriff?

Kriff?

Postby memphisjohn » Sun Jan 08, 2006 9:42 am

I keep seeing posts about Kriff. He is a league that just filled up (not in my division). Any words of wisdom or warning? Feel free to send PM in case you don't want to post something offensive...

His MO is to make wholesale roster changes after a season has begun, incurring transaction penalties at an alarming rate. The concern is that his team becomes a pushover, making it a probability that the Wild Card team comes from his division.
That being said, the last time I was in a league with him, he held off making radical changes until 1/4 way through the season. His team was playing at about a .500 clip in a tough division before he cashed in all his chips. They finished 64-98.
The Wild Card team did come from his division (it was my team.)

If he's starting to dump...maybe try to trade with him. If no issues are raised prior to the start of the season by the league then he just may do so....Haven't been in a league and so I have not been able to commuicate with him. I would be interested in his answers to my questions.....Just have fun and make the best of it....Bobby

I'm in this league too....

That said, scary as this sounds, I think I made "a connection" with him. Let me talk to him before we condem him. The last time I tried this tactic, he was 3-4 games under .500 at the 141 game mark (the trade deadline) till he made his wholesale changes.....

I shoot him a league mailing, and if I feel the need, I will keep you all informed on his decisions regarding his new team.

Seems, if you talk to him pre-opening day about the pros/cons of the players on his team, he takes a real interest, its not until he starts losing (now) that he dumps em all

Again, I will talk to him, and keep ya informed if I dont "get thru" to him.

I welcome, and encourage all to lend a helping hand, I honestly think he has troubles reading (or understanding) the values of the cards (not the price structure mind you)

Hmmm, I'm not in his league.....

Maybe ya made the same mistake I did. It seems, that Petrosian has been naming his teams and/or manager name after Kriff.....

Petro is on the up-and-up, you dont hafta worry about him.

Kriff's user ID in the standings page (pre-season) is Kriff and some #'s afterwards.

But, I regress......

Again, if you find yourself in a league with Kriff, please try and offer help before the season begins, espicially if your a veteran of the game. It seems he really tries to absorb what he is told by them, honest....

Petro [i:a0097647b9]is[/i:a0097647b9] above reproach, but I would worry about him.

His freakin' teams win too many games

If Kriff has indeed returned then I'll have to find someone elses identity to steal.

Or use my real name. What was it again? Oh yeah, Jason Bourne.

Not sure if the "real" Kriff is back or not, haven't heard anything from him in quite a while now. But, in his defense, I was in one of the last leagues I recall him being in and he did tone down his act dramatically. And yes, he seemed interested in hearing what others had to say.

(when it wasn't just negative Kriff bashing)

Actually I like Kriff. He seems to have quit just after he changed his stripes, so to speak.
