Yankee '56 Question

Yankee '56 Question

Postby egvrich » Tue Jan 10, 2006 5:48 pm

Tris Speaker & Joe Jackson

OR

Mickey Mantle & Willie Wilson

My lineup is very LH heavy already, defense is roughly even, less injuries and more power with Mantle & Wilson. But, likely lower OBP & BA overall.

Thoughts????

I like the top two.

Both will hit LH vs. the large amount of LH pitchers you will face, and both are even hitters.

I had Mantle and Wilson, but someone dropped Speaker and Jackson in waivers, so I made the switch. Figured it would be much easier to get Wilson and Mantle back later if I changed my mind ........

Thanks.

Didn't you just post a thread about hitters in their home parks? :D

The Mick for sure, see below. Make sure there are not a bunch of LH SPs out there. Get someone other than Wilson, how about a LH killer like Jim Rice or free up few $$ and get Ducky?

Definitely Mantle & somebody else.

Without seeing your team, unless you're rolling out a stud pitching staff, you can't afford to go to battle in Yankee '56 with Shoeless and Speaker at two key power positions. Is Covington available? His power doesn't drop off much vs lefties.

No reason to spend all that money on any of those guys.
There are many cheap LH power hitters that will each hit 35+ HRs in Yankee 56. STock up on them--get 4 at least (you can do that without spending more than 15 mill), fill the rest of the slots with very high OBP RH hitters who are fast, and you have the home field advantage.

Here's the team as it stands:

Wouldn't mind upgrading at 2B or SS or 3B. But, not really anyone available. Doby just got dropped, I could pick him up and pair him with Ruth or Teddy Ballgame if I dropped Perranoski or Beggs.

If it were me I'd go with an OF of Ruth/Doby/Reggie
