ATG III Half-Team Keeper League - Season IV (8) Concluded!!

Postby ArrylT » Thu Jan 31, 2008 12:29 am

When I made my trade, I was hoping either NYY '27 or MLA '82 Hitting would fall to #8. I was sort of expecting Sykes to take NYY '27 and had MLA '82 as my backup pick. :)

[quote:0bd7b59833="rjoh"]Guess my point is if you check the site and your up next and won't be back for 8 hours, it would be nice to tell us - [/quote:0bd7b59833]

My plan was not to be away for 8 hours. Work for some folks takes turns at any moment and SOM falls to the background for a bit.

It happens, picks get made and people move on. With this group of managers, I'd expect a little slack and understanding in round 1.

Only 3 picks until we reach Round II. Final reminder that clock starts in Round II and missing a turn means your clock is cut in 1/2 for the remainder of the draft.

In the 2nd, 3rd and 4th league I need to cut 4 teams.
Can I pick up one or all of them in that draft or in subsequent drafts?
i.e. If I cut a team in the 2nd league, can I pick it up in the 2nd league draft? Can I pick it up in the 3rd or 4th league draft?

Yes*, Yes, Yes.

* - If a majority requests, then the owner that drops a 1/2 squad cannot re-draft it until the 2nd round of the 4 round drafts of that same year ... otherwise you can re-draft a 1/2 squad at any time in any season that you've dropped.

So basically - all the Hitting squads taken in the 1st round last time were re-drafted in the first round this time, and all the pitching squads taken were replaced by new hitting squads.

Not 1 Pitching squad from the 1st round stayed. However the sole pitching squad chosen was a 2nd round pick last go-around. I cannot remember when E. Wynn was re-added to CLE '54 so that might have been a key reason why it was upgraded to a 1st round pick.

Hard to tell at this point if everyone is focusing on building hitter friendly teams, or if people just feel hitters are more valuable than pitchers in this format, or in ATG III in general.

The only real surprise of the 1st round, apart from the limited pitching picks, was the DET '84 pick - in fact you could reverse genegrids 2 picks and have an all hitting 1st round. Only genegrid knows if he values CLE '54 Pitching over BOS '46 Hitting, or if he just wanted to ensure the 1st round had a pitching selection.

Re: DET '84 Hitting

A good argument can be made for that being a 1st round selection, on the basis that it is one of the only teams with both a 1 range SS & 2B ... furthermore it might be the ONLY hitting squad with 1 range defense up the middle (C, SS, 2B, CF).

Left limited proxy with Sykes - back after 11pm.
