Yankee '56 Question

more hitting

i think that, because you're in such a potent hitters park, you need to spend more of your cap on hitting. you have 12 million invested in your bullpen and over 45% in your pitching staff. in order to gain the home field edge, i think you need more pop in that line up becuase only 3 of your 8 starters have hr potential. just my 2 cents

Kiki Cuyler and Eddie Collins dropped to the wire so, I made some additional changes, I like this lineup.

Rich,

I love most of your team..

Your only RH hitters are Cuyler, J. Collins and T.Fern (switch). And ultimately, with a Y56 team, you want RH hitters to be high obp guys, so while Cuyler is perfect, Collins and Fern are suspect. I have had good and horrible seasons from Fern there, and have never tried Collins. I would consider switching out Collins for a higher obp 3B.
Looking at who's available, I am not sure what you can do to fix that though without screwing around in the pitching staff.
I understand why others have thought you should spend less in the pen, but with Lolich and Kaat's lack of endurance, you need that $$ in the pen.

Good luck

I already dropped Willie Hernandez down to Bahnsen to make the other changes happen, so that is as low as I'll go on my pen. I was considering a lefty killer like Zoilio Verzalles (or however it's spelled) instead of Fernandez. But, his D scares me. And, actually Fernandez's numbers are pretty strong against LHP's. Just not too much available at 3B to change out Collins.

I'll keep my eyes out, thanks for the input.

What about a Nettles/Lansford or Riggs/McMullin platoon or some combo thereof? That would cost about the same or less than Collins and a nickel backup.

someone just dropped Pete Rose, so I downgraded from Beggs to Staley and picked him up

PLain and simple, you want as many LH power hitters as possible. As is you only have Cooper, May and R.Jackson. NOT ENOUGH, especially since Cooper and Jackson aren't as good vs. LHP. I play in this park a lot and have had good success with 5-6 LH power hitters and 2 RH hitters (usually guys who crush LH pitching).

Also, I'd recommend grabbing Bennett as a spot starter and RP. He's a great value in Yankee '56 and Dunn.

Bennett is already gone.

There just isn't a great amount of guys on the wire that I see fitting the bill. Agreed about the relative lack of LH Power, just not seeing many options.
