Ruth, Williams, who else for a pitcher's park?

Snider or Banks are good choices IMHO, they play well in any park, play good D, do not break the bank and can hit some HRs.

Thanks for all the great responses. I do consult Diamond Dope often before making decisions (or do I let it make decisions for me, I'm not sure), so I was looking for some real-world experience on the part of real-world experienced players. As we've all discovered, one of the eternal mysteries of Strat is that some cards don't always perform the way they look.

Thanks again.

Pillpop speaks the truth. The numbers are what they are, the programming is what it is, then the Strat takes over.

Gotta love it! :D

Sorta surprised nobody mentioned Dave Henderson as a platoon mate at the least. Do not be taken by his balance #. He is a 5L because he totally destroys lefties, but hits righties just fine.

I will see if I can grab some #'s from him in a pitching park.....

Dave Henderson in Forbes:

Postby Leo / loob » Fri Jan 13, 2006 12:32 am

Henderson, D. R CF 2(-2)e6 643 79 25 32 134 46 1 0 .221 .415 .269 5L 3.35M

25 doubles
32 Hrs
79 Runs
134 RBI

Low BA and OBP but he had 643 at bats, which means, I did not platoon him.

For 6.5 million more, you get probably the same # of RBI (or close to it), and 40 points added onto the BA and OBP from D. Henderson to Mays.

6.5 million, is a lot to spend elsewhere

I think Al Simmons is worth a mention - decent natural homers along with plenty of doubles and a high batting average. He carried a Forbes team I had from the 4 hole.
