Petco lineup

Ortiz has more innings cuz I had started him in place of Robertson when I thought I should. Cotts has more innings because I had my settings for closer on Regular. I put it on Maximize last night and since I lost every game Looper still has yet to play more than his .1 inning. All my other settings are on normal.

I did a little analysis for you of your division:

vs. lefties
BB H OB TB HR BP
Mafia 106 214 336 357 20 18 Petco
Seawolves 148 185 352 342 37 47 Coors
Weasels 77 233 346 388 27 35 PNC
Cardinals 86 256 361 419 27 36 Ameriquest

vs. righties

Mafia 121 206 343 352 29 30
Seawolves 124 218 360 369 33 53
Weasels 82 215 325 351 25 32
Cardinals 106 245 368 427 37 30

So my basic thoughts are:

Lefties are killing you - you have the lowest OBP, 2nd lowest TB and by far the lowest power numbers vs LHP in your division.

You are in decent shape vs. RHP but can't compete with the Cardinals, who would probably run away with the division with a better bullpen. In a pitchers' park you want your offense to look more like the Cardinals, with a high % of your OB being hits and specifically extra base hits - since HRs are much harder to come by.

You'll have a tough time winning at the Seawolves but you should be fairly even vs them at home.

So it may be crazy, but since you have a high OB guy who cost 3.8MM on your bench, I'd think about trying to trade Hafner. You probably would need to do it in a combo deal, but I'd try to deal Hafner and play Thomas as your DH. Vlad Guerrero would be a target, or you can try to upgrade at C and OF in one deal. Hafner is too one-sided to be worth his $$ since you are facing almost 40% lefties.

I certainly wouldn't drop him, but you definitely need to trade either Hafner or Thomas.

Hey thank you very much for your analysis and help. It is clear that I don't know an astronomical amount about this game because I had no idea why I was getting killed. I thought that since some of my batters have a stronger balance against lefties I would be ok. I think I did ok against the Seawolves at home but got swept on the road so you're right about that.

Thanks again. I will have to see what I can do about trades. I like Hafner's homeruns but he's not doing too hot for me now and Thomas always does well for me in Petco for some reason.

I don't know...Guererro has four BPHRs on each side of his card as well. I think I won't be able to get him. He's doing better than Hafner and is in my division. I could try but I have a feeling the guy will decline.

Seemed nobody was interested in Hafner so I had to drop him. Picked up Byrnes for RF vs. lefties and maybe vs. righties (not sure yet). Keeping Higginson to also play vs. righties and DH when, not if, Thomas goes down. Can't do anything else to this team without giving up hope of being competitive so will have to live with it as is.

Thanks Cummings. I appreciate your help and checking on my progress. I have hit a bit of a roll...this should remind me that no matter how bad you start you can turn it around. In fact, I am thinking it's probably rare for one team to dominate through the whole season eh? Everyone has their hot and cold streaks.

Hey, my team OBP is finally over .300!! 8) :D
