WWJD...What Will Jimmy DO?

12 games to go...first place in the division is locked up.

With 100 wins and 12 games to go there is an outstanding chance to achieve a personal high winning total (not to mention a spot in the record books for wins). Normally with the division locked-up, I bench my long-term injury threats. '83 Lynn..(but of course it doesn't matter the year for Mr. DL himself) and '90 Ricky (ya gotta love that card) and '84 Pena could go down for 15 at any time. Also, right now Brett has a spot in the record books for BA and OBP.

So now...do I rest Lynn, Ricky, Pena, and Brett and forget about the wins...or do I go for it?

WWJD...? I'm going for it!! (or am I?)

Bench'em all. You cannot afford to lose a stud for the playoffs in a game that wont determine your playoff standing. It's just that simple. I know exactly what you are going thru. My team set the record with 114 wins. They won the division by 34 games. I benched anyone who could get hurt for more than 3 games during the last week. It was tough to do, but I just didnt want to be in a situation where I was lamenting the loss of my clean up hitter in the semis. I have had other teams close to breaking HR or SLG% records only to see the team numbers fade in the last 4-5 nights when I 'cleared the bench'. When it comes to benching a starter late in the season.....a ring means never having to say you're sorry...

This is fantasy land. Live the dream! Just don't get mad at me if one of your studs comes up limping.

Panzer is right, no buts. Go for the ring. Looking at the top 50 ranked players, it amazes me how some of them have very few championships. If I am fortunate enough to have a playoff spot wrapped up at any point in the last week, the players that are prone to injury, sit on the bench. 8)

Panzer Ace...thanks man...you saved me from myself with those words of wisdom. I took my eyes off the prize. The injury brigade has been benched. Come on pitching staff!!

I regret not picking a hitters park though. At the mid-point of the season, these boys were on pace for 1100+ runs...in Dodger Stadium!! I wonder what they could have accomplished in a hitters park?
