PETCO line-up.... Help please!

Here is the link to my team:

I am not sure how to set up my line-up. I picked up Dejesus & Robinson to face RHP and sit Wells against RHP, but I have 960,000 to spend and other than a back-up 1B, I'm not sure what else I might need. I realize I don't have any LHB that are strong against LHP, but I would have to drop Dejesus for Klesko or Surhoff which will weaken me defensively, or I could drop Olerud as well and pick-up Broussard & a cheap RH Left fielder to platoon with Robinson. Any suggestions?

What about replacing Wells with Taguchi?

I'm the last guy to give advice for Petco so the only advice I can give is NEVER use that park again!

I had success at Petco the one time I played there--got to finals--I posted a bit about this before and other more established folks have as well. In a pitcher's park you have to make sure you can score runs--so having 4 stud * pitchers will do wonders for your ERA--but you probably will lose more than you win.

Get value pitchers with a solid closer and make sure you get hitters who play good D and have plenty of natural hits and nat HRs--don't get carried away with W-power guys--you need N-power for pitcher card HRs...

Anyway--point is in Petco your team should be drafted with offense in mind and a staff of folks like Greinke, Maddux, etc.
Cheers!

Why would you lose more games with four stud *pitchers?

Winning in Pitchers' Parks

I'm not too sure about the above advice for the strong offense in Petco. This team is struggling in my league, with what appears to be a decent offense:

I have not played in Petco, but wouldn't you want two boppers with high (8?) natural HRs, then a bunch of OBP/speed guys for small ball, plus pitchers who are a good "fit"?

As has been stated before, you can get away with pitchers who have higher BP HRs, but are otherwise solid. It seems like spending AT LEAST $25M on the right pitching staff is the way to go.

Thanks for all of the advice. This is about as good as I'm going to get it.:

Folks who have had success there have spent about 26-30 mil from ones I've seen.
You can ask any of the vets with Petco success and they're throwing folks like Pedro, Maddux, Greinke etc. They're as good as you need to win at home. Geez--even Jimmy Gobble is a steal comparatively at home...

Grenke sucked for me in Petco. I didn't want to risk Gobble. Even Nate Robertson is sucking right now.

Overall maybe a couple mil more on pitching than I'd think to spend, mostly because you seem to have a lot of relivers for mid innings--which you likely won't need with those starters. Percival is great for Petco. I think Clemens is overkill with that staff--ither *SPs are nice fits at half the price (Pedro and Maddux come to mind...even Milton or Eaton but there are others).

On offense you have some clear Petco winners--Kendall, Suzuki, EYoung. I really don't like AROD in that park at all--be patient but if he tanks you'll want to try to shop him around and get a LH hitter who mashes righties if possible--you really don't have that right now. In fact, you may be abit weak against righties in the power dept. Remember that splits are non-linear and become less significant as you go up in price. i.e., the 6R on a delucci type is not nearly as strong as the 3R on Snow when you compare the right sides of those cards, so don't value your lefty-righty bias simply by the "shortcut" splits--they're cliff notes and only a relative guide for that player.

Different story on a big righty if you have someone like Jeter or Vladdy--both are good for your park with all the nat hits.

Best of luck to you!
