I was hoping Ryan Braun would last just a bit longer. Cal has set up his starting lineup nicely; Braun will pound lefties; Rodriguez and Howard righties.

my pick was fairly easy, was debating between utley's incredible offense, and the possibility to dh or play him at first, or suffer with his D at 2b, and injury possibility....OR... take phillips, and his incredible defense, power against lhp, speed, and +600 p.a. then I noticed utley went in the first round.....

Sorry about that. Utley's not a great 2B in the field, but there are worse, and he's one of the 15 best hitters out there. Nice to fill a position like that with a horse for a change.

Chris Young just went -- I took a long look at his card a bit back. He's a killer against right-handed hitters (he should be about a 2R), but he's also a terrible fielder and can't hold runners on at all. Still, I would have taken him if he had been available.

boyz, it appears we've got a group that's conscientous and doesn't want to hold things up, and leaves proxies and even phone numbers to keep things moving and do their part...and then, another group. it would be nice if both groups could get on the same page. last pick of the day at 5-eastern's pretty unacceptable, and for less than half a round to be completed in a day, in the THIRD round. don't thinik ive ever seen that....

Agreed that we have to go more quickly. We started a week ago Tuesday; we're averaging 3-1/2 picks a day. (This is up from 2.4 PPD as of this past Tuesday morning.)

I just updated the board to make it clear *Hanley* Ramirez was the guy being drafted. There are four Ramirezes out there -- pitcher Horacio, LF/DH Manny, shortstop Hanley, and 3B Aramis. (There are two Ryan Brauns out there, too, although that pick seemed pretty clear.)

Also, for clarity it might be better to list the player's main position rather than DH, even though you may not plan on him ever taking the field (for example, David Ortiz rarely plays the field anymore, and Braun's a butcher at third).

I think to stimulate picking, we need to start enforcing the 4-hour clock. once a clock is expired, its the next person's turn, and when the skipped party show's up, he can pick at any time. hopefully tws left enough proxies to get us into the 4th round...god knows if it will ever get back to him.
