Some Players seem to always have the same card

Is it just me or do some players seem to always have the same card. Barry Larkin seems to always be in his high injury, good hit year of 1989. When I look up an injury for Mike Scioscia it usually seems to be a HBP vs RHP which is 86 or 90. Same for Canseco. He is usually a HBP vs RHP which is 90 or 91.

Maybe its just luck of the draw. Anyone else seem to notice players stuck on the same card much of the time?

I always seem to get '84 Tony Pena (no complaint there), and '88 Mitchell(Yeesh). I stopped drafting Mitchell.

Until recently, I got the same Soto card -- I think it's '85? -- the one where he gives up the straight out dinger on 5-10 versus lefties, plus a dinger chance on 5-9 (with 100 walks, a given with Soto). I seem to always get a good Bailor card, and DwMurphy always seems to produce runs no matter what card I get.

Funny, I got Sandberg one year (my favorite player -- my youngest son is named after him [Ryne, not Sandberg]) and got his '84 (wasted on an 80-82 team).

I have a feeling that the whole system is rigged. Usually you get the player's worst card and the only reason he does well...is because the opposing pitcher or batter has his worst card also.

I think that managers tend to get the same card and that is why some guys swear player X is god and others say player X sucks. You need to find the guys that like to play for you (ie give you a good card)

Having spent a ridiculous amount of time compiling stats for the 80's players I have used, it does FEEL like you get the same cards for certain players, although the main factor that makes you feel that way is that people drop the worst cards if injury reveals, and thus you don't get to see those results.

Looking over my results sheets for players I stick with regardless of cards, I see the following:

All of this info is located in my thread of Sykes Stats. Basically, I believe the years are indeed random and revealed years that seem to always land on our teams are mere coincidence.

Thanks for putting the time in to show us that. It's pretty interesting. I couldn't believe the years' difference for the cheaper guys.
