OK crybabies, I started round 2 :D

I was torn between Reyes and Matt Stairs, then I had a moment of clarity and decided on Reyes.

If you're still up pick away!

Now you see why I took Tulo...I couldn't risk both him and Reyes gone before my next pick. I need that stud in the core position of SS for the next 5 years or so.

I feel good going into my next pick as I see 6 or so core players left for me to choose from.

I'm doing the happy happy joy joy dance, that I got BOTH Fielder and Wright. :D

When we posted state lotteries, I want to pick aroun 10-12th, hoping I could get both.

Of course now the rest of my draft will go right in the crapper, but I'm thrilled right now.

BTW, if Fielder was gone, Reyes was it.

As it turns out I could of had your picks...but instead I have Tulo and Cabrera(after a quick change of heart)...I think we both did well.

Just wondering ...

Postby blsmith7 » Sun Mar 30, 2008 11:43 pm

... since we're hopefully going to be doing this for a while - where is everybody from and what do you do? Basically, who are you?

My name is Brian Smith and I live in South Jersey, just outside of Atlantic City, in the town of Northfield. I teach high school history & government and coach baseball. I am 38 with a wife and 2 year old daughter - Kylie. I still play hardball in two leagues during the summer. I started playing SOM around 1988-89 with two buddies and got hooked. I won my first season (they had been playing for a few years) with Tim Raines, Kirby Puckett, Ozzie Smith, and George Brett as my core. Well, that's a start, but I'm sure we'll learn more in the years to come. Oh yeah, I'm a diehard Phillies fan and can't wait 'til tomorrow.

hey guys. what do you guys think about the draft so far. i had a strategy going in and quickly scrapped it when chase utley was taken second overall. now i don't know what the hell i'm doing.

anyway, my name is chuck hanna and i live in lancaster, pa. no...i'm not amish. my dad worked for an amishman at one time and helped convert a barn into a gym for jim kaat. jim took a liking to my dad and gave us tickets to a bunch of phils games in 1980. i don't remember how many times (i was only 6 yrs old) but at least a few, he took us down to the phils locker room to meet some of his former phils teammates. that's when i became a phils fan. a similar event happend with the pirates in 1987, so i like them too.

i am married, no children and work as a financial consultant.

it's good to know you.

Good Morning Everyone,

I'm glad I started the second round last night so that every one could keep drafting. And yes, I knew that I could start the second round off, but I was having trouble deciding on drafting Reyes or drafting Fielder to play DH. I was going to sleep on it but figured picking Reyes wouldn't hurt.

My name is Matt Bollinger and I live in Marietta, PA. I have been working in environmental consulting for industry for the last 2 1/2 years. I'm married and my first child is due in the beginning of October. My favorite baseball team is the Pittsburgh Pirates, but I also keep up with the St. Louis Cardinals and the Phillies. This is my first SOM league and I'm really looking forward to seeing how this league plays out.

Good Luck to Everybody and Happy Drafting!

To All:

1) I, like I suspect the rest of you, play this to have a good time, not to cause problems for others.
2) My recollection of my past dealings with ninersfan is that he has always been a good guy and I don't recall any conflicts. Regardless of anything else I think he deserves a great deal of credit for picking up the league and volunteering for the thankless job of commissioner.
3) I have apparently become a source of friction in the league and I don't want to become that for myself or anyone else. Accordingly if ANYONE wishes me to drop, I will with no hard feelings. I would only ask that it be ASAP so that whomever replaces me can select their own players.
