Introductions

Great Idea BTW.

My name Is Bill King. As you can guess by my screen name, I'm a football fan first, cut me I bleed Garnet and Gold, Mets are my favorite baseball team, ( Usually don't like to annouce that until after the draft  ). I'm a LONG time member of the TSN Strato community, a founding member of the longest running continual live draft league in the community, the NLD, which started in the first few months of TSN's launch of Strat, so I've been here pretty much since the beginning. I've played the board game as well, was in a face to face league for a few years in the mid ninties. I prefer the football board game to baseball however, as football has more stategic elements under the managers control. The baseball game just seems like rolling dice in comparison.
Professionally, I'm currently a "domestic engineer", fancy way of saying stay at home dad. My wife makes the big bucks which allows me to stay home and be with my 2 daughters (7 and 10) once they're home from school. Prior to my current situation, I was a TV director working in Syracuse (twice) and Providence RI. I currently live in Amherst NY, a suburb of Buffalo, but still consider Syracuse home and hope to move back someday soon. I'm 40 years old, been married 15 years, father of 2. ONLY 2., don't want to switch from man-to-man to zone.
Hope you guys will have as much fun with this league as I've had with my others.

Strategy? Well if you have one of those you are way ahead of me. I do however have a philosophy....and I will share it with you after the draft.

My name is Boon, James Boon. Age 44(and holding). In the end stage of divorce after 18+ years of marriage( my love of Start had nothing to do with this). I am the very proud father of high acheiving twin 17yr old daughters. They will be attending the University of Georgia in the fall....GO DAWGS! I reside in Canton Georgia where I am a purveyor of educational materials serving K-12 schools and public libraries in both Ga. and S.C. I have been playing the online version of the game since the first month of its existence and the board game since about 79....these are my core beliefs...

I believe in the soul, the ****, the *****, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.

All bow before the wisdom of Crash Davis!

[quote:81f57a1863="IrishJoe"]To All:

1) I, like I suspect the rest of you, play this to have a good time, not to cause problems for others.
2) My recollection of my past dealings with ninersfan is that he has always been a good guy and I don't recall any conflicts. Regardless of anything else I think he deserves a great deal of credit for picking up the league and volunteering for the thankless job of commissioner.
3) I have apparently become a source of friction in the league and I don't want to become that for myself or anyone else. Accordingly if ANYONE wishes me to drop, I will with no hard feelings. I would only ask that it be ASAP so that whomever replaces me can select their own players.

Joe, see my PM, as far as I'm concerned you are in. I'm not sure what has happened in other leagues, but perhaps if you could work those issues out in those leagues things here will go more smoothly.

My name is Dave Myers and I live in Hilliard, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus. I'll be 41 in April, have been married 17 years and have two sons who are 13 and 10 years old. I am a Promotions Manager for a MRO Distributor. I've coached travel baseball for several years now and spend my spare time - what there is of it - trying to figure out how I'm going to finish my second marathon in better shape than I did the first one.

I grew up in a small town in northern Ohio about an hour west of Cleveland and grew up a fan of the Indians, Cavs, and Browns. I'm completely convinced that one day in my life time, one of them, will win a championship at something. That, of course, remains to be seen.

I've run a Diamond-Mind baseball league for many years and grew up playing Statis-Pro and Strat-O-Matic games. The Diamond-Mind league I run utilizes an on-line auction format, so it makes a draft like this a very, very interesting change of pace. I have no idea how I'll fare, but it should be interesting.

I am very impressed so far in the involvement of the owners in this league and sincerely hope it continues throughout the year. I posted this before, but a couple years ago I was involved in a Scoresheet League with my son. We were fortunate enough to win, but their was almost no involvement througout the season (no trades were made and even fewer discussion occurred) and it made the whole experience a disappointment. Always with the Diamond-Mind league, I'm trying to find ways to make the community "feel" like we're running a face-to-face league - like we're all sitting across the table rolling dice and watching the games unfold, because that's the way I grew interested in the games as a kid.

The community and the involvement of the owners is what makes a league enjoyable in my opinion and so I am very excited by the way things here have started. I hope it continues.

By the by, Hanley Ramirez was a fairly easy pick for me early in the first round, but it sucks having to wait for that second pick! :-)

Anyway, thanks for having me. I'm looking forward to this.

I'm here to take proxies, and while I can empathize with missing a pick, I think I've been pretty clear about what the rules were as far as the clock for the draft goes.

Besides it's opening day, didn't you all take work off to watch 12-16 hours of baseabll on ESPN?

and you call yourselves fans.
