What part of 'mop-up' does HAL not understand?

I wasn't kidding when I suggested that, it might just make sense to mark your best reliever as mop up .....

I've got a team that is hopelessly mired in 4th place. I'm gonna try it for the heck of it .........

'Mop-up' seems to be the catch all when there are no setup guys or closers left. After my first couple teams, I now spend the money to have three decent or better relievers in the pen. Honeycutt, Perranoski, and McMahon in Dunn, for example ($80M cap). I'll pay for a decent rotation (success with both 4 and 5 man staffs) and set my relief ratings to conservative and my best starters to slow hook. With this general pitching strategy, Hal rarely mis-uses my pen. I find that I win most 1 or 2 run games, most extra inning games, and overperform in the playoffs. But, only one season with more then 90 wins. Of course, my offense is almost always small ball and I am a little susceptable to blow-out losses. Career winning % about .520 with 6 playoff appearances in 13 seasons. Finals 4 times winning 3 of them - all without homefield advantage. Too small a sample to draw conclusions, I agree. But the general performance/results have been consistently decent.

UPDATE:
OK, first I must preface that Aguilera and McEnaney each pitched 2 innings and Frock one inning in an extra-inning game in Game 1 last night. Frock won.

Game 2: Frock comes in the ninth, gets the first out. Then Wilks gets the final two for the save.

Game 3: Taylor comes in the ninth with one out, gets the second out. Wilks gets the final out for the save.

Normally I would not complain that I have a guy throw one perfect inning over two games to get two saves... except he IS the only RP with "mop up" selected. He now leads the team with six saves.

UPDATE:
After a few nights of having Taylor and McEnaney listed as closers – and them not being used AT ALL.... I am back to having no one listed in set up or closer, with Wilks as mop up.
In last night's games, I had two games needing the bullpen. The first saw McEnaney give up runs in the ninth to blow a save opportunity, but the offense picked him up the win in the bottom half.
The third game of the night required 2 innings from Frock - got shelled, an inning from McEnaney, got hit, and Wilks getting his 7th save....
So, tonight I think I am going to put Wilks in the closer role, and Taylor as mop up and see what happens....
