Well, I wrote the last post before I saw Niners response - I think that will help greatly. Thanks.

[quote:e748292112]Sorry, a very busy day today at work and I don't think I'm explaining my question very well. I understand what the proxy is supposed to do. I guess I don't really understand the mechanics.

I go to "Create A Proxy" and I understand I can list names of players I want. [i:e748292112]But do I have to enter the round for the players?[/i:e748292112][/quote:e748292112]

You do not have too. if you do the computer awill only lok at that list for that round.[/color:e748292112]

[quote:e748292112][i:e748292112]Do I enter several players for each round or do I enter one list with no round and the computer just picks the first available guy?[/i:e748292112][/quote:e748292112]

You can do either, if you don't list a round, the computer just works it way donmw the list, that's why it's better to at least use groups, with the DELETE IF GROUP PICKED function. so you get a player for a specific position then move on[/color:e748292112]

[quote:e748292112][i:e748292112]If everyone does enter proxies, am I going to get a chance to update my choices,[/i:e748292112][i:e748292112] or is the computer just going to buzz through several rounds and I don't get a chance to make adjustments?[/i:e748292112][/quote:e748292112]

Depends on how many proxies everyone enters. if everyone has enough proxies loaded to go until the end of the draft the computer buzzes right through them until someone runs out.

I'm not saying create a list for all forty rounds that's would be ridiculous.
but load a couple of groups for a couple of picks, then go back and make adjustments. If y9ou ever nedd a minuet to think just before your pick, there is a tab that lets you tunr your proxies off. Just make sure to turn it on once your are all set to pick again.[/color:e748292112]

[quote:e748292112][i:e748292112]Again, apologies - I'm not trying to be naive/ignorant, but wanted to know what I'm doing before I do something stupid and really do end up with Russ Adams in round 12. [/i:e748292112][/quote:e748292112]

No sweat, I LOVE answering questions[/color:e748292112]

I think it should be made clear that you do not have to use proxies if you are available to make a manual pick. Proxies are primarily for those players who aren't around to make a pick when their turn comes up.

It takes time to set tons of proxies, so if you are always around you really don't have to bother.

I do recommend that you have a couple of proxies set, but with your proxy switch off, for those times you have to quickly leave for a couple of hours. You can quickly turn your proxies back on, leave, and have them fire while you are absent. That way the draft keeps going.

What KD said.

I know you get 3 hours to make picks, but if we can cut that down for people who are busy, that's great for those of us who are here all the time and want to keep things moving along.

Besides the soon we get the draft done the sooner we actually play.

I have more more pitchers thatn anyone else to this point. What is going on with me? I'm usually a total offensive guy (no jokes please), with pitching being an afterthought. This is why I love drafts like this, you never know how it's going to turn out.

I hate waiting, especially when there is no good reason for us to have to wait anymore.

All good points.

I don't like to set more than 3 rounds at a time. The draft can take funny turns and strategy ebbs and flows.

Today I knew I would be at appointments from around 10:30 until 2:00ish so I set 3 rounds with 3 choices each. got all my guys...including Ankie. :P l

now I am back and can take my alloted time to analyze and select.
