Perplexed about my new Shea team...

Postby MICHAELTARBELL » Fri Jan 20, 2006 10:08 am

I have 1.97 left to spend, and cannot decide what to do with it!
Herewegoagains

going with 3 stud relievers, since i did so poorly in the draft going after a stud sp! Also the fa wire is pretty picked over....

I could

drop Molina and add piazza as a back up to mauer
drop nixon and go with griffey as my RF vs righties
upgrade kapler as my RF vs lefties

But all of these seem like just spending more money for equal talent....whoa is me! what to do??

Any suggestions appreciated! :)

Hey Mike...

I don't think you need all 3 studs in your pen. You could drop Ryan for...say Marte. Lidge in a setup role, is going to eat up a TON of innings.

I like Kennedy @ 2B, but I think you need Belliard if he's still available. He's a doubles machine.

Marte and Belliard both gone....

that is part of the problem...alot of guys that i like are gone, and do not want to spend $$ just to spend it..if I could find a decent guy for ryan, i could drop nixon-kapler platoon, move abreu to rf, and grab hafner for dh...but just cannot find that guy, ya know? :?

Also, kind of wanted to see what would happen with 3 studs in the pen, and no other options for HAL to go to (cheap specialists for instance)...but would downgrade a bit if I could find the right guy (duchscherer gone also)

mtarbell, I really like the team, but I agree with visick regarding Ryan. You should be all set with Lidge and Gonzalez. Is Cerda available? He would save you nearly $4m over Ryan, which you could use elsewhere. I'm concerned that you don't have enough LH SLG for Shea, especially considering the fact that Mauer and Nixon will spend a fair share of time in the trainers' room...

This is funny! now you are seeing my dilemma, every one that is mentioned is GONE. Cabrera is also gone, i am currently planning on using Garcia (Karim) to back up Gload..I know, not the best option! But just having one HECK of a time finding guys!

Cerda is also gone, here are some that might work (none of which ar my favs)...almost every left handed reliever is gone...

Ayala
Trevor Miller (have never used him)
Meadows
Brocail

heck if you were going to take cerda take t miller he's a lefty and i think he's card looks alot like cerda's. i think you pay .5 more for cerda because he is c(1).

just my opinion.

i'm not a fan of the big three.... big two and cheap-o's seems to work....

OK, dropped ryan picked up this Miller(?)...dropped nixon and picked up hafner. Will move Abreu to RF (not crazy about this, but does have a -3 arm and low error rating) and move Hafner to dh (duh!) need to now move kapler, who i do not need. Should probably look for a good backup 1b....
