So, was the lineup suggestion an improvement of your offensive output?

I'm a wuss.

I've adopted the L line up.

But I'm a 90's baseball guy (where OBP rules)... The concept of batting Maury Wills second and Reggie Smith 7th caused me to have a siezure in my sleep last night.

If you take the time to explain it, I'll do it and learn a little bit more about small ball. I just lost my division lead last night.

I appreciate your time and thought.

As far as I am concerned OBP is king no matter what Era you play in. Maury Wills would never be anything more than a #8 hitter on my team. Sanguillen/Buford would be a better lead off combo. Are you really more concerned with an extra 10 double plays on the year out of the #2 hole versus 50 more on base chances out of your table setters?

I don't have all my OBP numbers in front of me but there has got to be somone one better in your lineup to hit #2 instead of Wills. I don't care if your playing small ball Wills has no business hitting #2.

I agree with Brool. OBP is king in any and all eras.

Maximize your baserunners to maximize your chances to score runs. Wills batted leadoff in real life due to his amazing speed, but in a SIM game, stolen bases and/or the threat of running are simply not as great as in real life baseball.

Technically, we're not talking 10 more DP's we're talking 20, but that gets all long and lengthy....

It was brought up about DP's , you seemed to like the idea. Which, I do too. In the 2002 version, I created a whole team (inlcuding platoons where needed) of hitters with less than a 3% chance of hitting into a DP. Team won 96 games or so, but lost the finals....

With the lineups I suggested, they maximize OBP at the one spot, leads off first to cut down on DP, and did the best I could as far as clutch and balance (splitting up R hitters and L hitters)

If your afraid of Wills that far up against R, slot him 7th, or 8th if you like, and swap Smith and Foy.

Doing such however, would significantly weaken your bottom of the order, I mean, your talking Foy Wills Millan Pitcher 6-9.......

Also, remember, your balking at Smith batting 7th, well, Millan was leading your team in RBI, I say, play the hot hand......

These are all just suggestions, and not to be taken as the Holy Book. Your 25 bucks, do as you please, I will not be offended if you do not use the lineups I suggested, promise.

Scoring runs still seams to be an issue, so, I ask others to chime in batting orders for our friend here.

What I dig about strat is this stuff. Because you know teams are arguing this stuff in the backrooms.

You guys are awesome. Thanks.

I'm scoring 3.5 runs a game with an OBP driven line up... I'm going to try something new and try Leo's suggestion.

And 25 US bucks is 29 Canadian so I'm really screwed.

8-7 since the changes and still dead last in hitting...

Second place in the division now...

I'll hang in there for a while though.

My last suggestion that I can think of.....

1. I just noticed your park, you are not going to lead the league in hitting, or, even be in the top 1/3. 5th or 6th should not be outta the question tho. How far in last in hitting are you?

The only thing I can think of any more is trading Torre.....

He is the only hitter that is doing squat, and he is smack dab in the middle of it.....

If you cannot jettison Torre via trade, do not cut him, maybe swap him out with your hottest hitter at the moment, maybe drop him in the order, try anything to get his bat in gear, you do need it.....

However, I did notice that Smith is now leading your team in RBI, so try and bump him up, maybe swap the two in the batting order??
