My first ATGII team--Bobbing Back to the Surface....

It is HIGHLY unlikely Gehringer or Collins make it to your pick in waivers. Rickey and Stargell are both usually left over post-waivers.

I think what I'm leaning toward doing, especially given that I have the last waiver pick, is to take Moriarity's advice and just make some modest tweaks for now--then make changes later based on the FA's that show up, taking all the above suggestions into account.

Thanks for all the help. I'll keep you posted on how things evolve. :D

Ricky would look good on this team. He gives you power, speed, OBP and solves your leadoff problem. Keep Gordon. He'll hit close to 40 dingers there.

I'd get at least one *SP and pitch him every 4th day, while rotating everybody else in with the per game starter settings. Dizzy Dean is a favorite for hitters parks if you can get him. He's usually taken though.

And lastly, as mentioned b4, May will hit homers at Dickey's pace and free up some cash for other things.

Good luck and have fun!

If you can get McCosky...take him. He does nothing but hit, hit and hit some more for me. I use him on about 70% of my teams.

Furillo is a keeper, and get May if you can.

I got a new idea for how to use many of the players mentioned on this thread and also bring in a special mystery guest to add some additional punch, with a couple of fall back positions in case plan A doesn't work. I don't want to jinx it by explaining it now, but I'll report back after waivers and let you know how it all turns out.

Thanks again for all the advice. I do now finally get it about May. The guy is practically pure BPHR.

I did get Rickey--toyed with Jimmy Foxx for a while, but finally decided on Rickey. I traded in Dickey for May, which provided the necessary cash. All the other changes were just tinkering.

So I think the team is basically set, but I'd welcome it if anyone would take another look and give any further advice. :D

Not a bad looking team. I don't care much for 5-man rotations myself.

I would still drop Henderson for McCosky and redo the rotation. Something along the lines of: Pfiester, Cicotte, Buhl, Vuckovich.

I would also swap Hughes for Dayley.

Just my preference though.

Good luck and have fun! :D

New Pitching Staff

Thanks, Tim, for the suggestion....

After studying various options and going through several cycles of add-drop, I decided to keep Rickey (I'm a big fan of his and want that offense!) but I was able to make a more effective four man for less than the prices of my five-man:

Leifield
Earnshaw
Buhl
Junior Thompson
x-nickel guy

Thanks again for the advice. Let's see how the four-man plays. Looks like I have some serious vets in this league, so it should be interesting. :D
