before you get too carried away...what other parks in your division and how many LHSP do your opponents have? Also, who are the major stud hitters in the division?
5 LHSP is about normal....your lineup leans to the right a bit so I think you need at least one LHP slayer. Good news is...They are cheap and abundent. You also need a leadoff hitter. How about moving Soriano to DH . Cut Phelps for say.... Lofton/Bourne and J.Jones/R.Davis. This saves about 1.5 million. Or you could go straight with Hopper or Schumaker as leadoffs...decent OB but lots of baserunner advancing hits. Each of these saves around 2 million. I would see if C. Young is available for CF. He is healthy and decent with the glove and will hit 35+ HR in your park. Also, if you are forced to play a 3 at 2B then why not save a bit of coin and go with Loretta or German. Both have decent OB and skills and save an additional 1M +. Loney can hit no doubt... but with a 3 at 2B I would prefer a better glove at 1st. I'd take any of the next 3 LHH 1b ..Gonzalez, Morneau or Kotchman. I would use what money I have harvested to pick up RF that crushes LHP...say a Guillen or a Dye or even Winn(maybe). most of these moves improve your D as well....a bit.
Lastly...the pen is better but is vulnerable to LHH. I think you need a specialist who slays the LHH...say F. Francisco or Rodney on the cheap...for more there is C.J Wilson or Mahay or Peralta.
