Is it time to pull the plug on this guy? I thought I was getting a dominant set up guy but he has been anything but. We are in the 10% haircut stage and wanted to get thoughts on him.

Thanks.

A 3.67 ERA isn't bad for your park. Marmol gives up some OB and in a hitter's park that can translate into homers with men on base, but he has no bp homers (and no bp singles versus right), and almost all his OB are walks. I'd stick with him.

Worth the money?

Are those stats really worthy of his price tag?

I cut him

Postby BeltranFebles » Wed Apr 30, 2008 11:15 am

Thanks guys. I cut him after he cost me another game last night. I picked up Justin Hampson as a replacement. Hopefully, he will have more success than Marmol.

He is by far the best value R2 innings stud. You made a huge mistake dropping him.

I agree with PBTR.Unfortunately sometimes the rolls come up more on the hitters card than they do on the pitchers card.He is definitely 1 that I would continually throw out there no matter how he is performing. The odds do even out over the course of a season

Chopped Liver

Postby BeltranFebles » Wed Apr 30, 2008 2:42 pm

Guys,

Thanks for the opinions. Hampson is not exactly chopped liver. I could always free up some cash by dropping Markakis for a RF in the 4.6 range and bring Marmol back.

My division is only separated by 1 game.

I'm not inclined to do that move but Markakis has underperformed.

How HAL decides who is a good reliever or bad one has always mystified me. But took me a few teams to get it through my head that their stats were against all teams good and bad but I'm playing in a league with the top 100 players going against my pitching staff every night. I have Heath Bell who has given up 55 hits in 66 innings and 7 homeruns but struck out 66 with a 1.12 whip while he has three total hits and no homeruns on his card. Just have to roll with it. Wouldn't give him up for any reason
