Just curious about hit and run settings and bunt.

Ex: i have O Smith(3r) say he is facing a lefty, any idea how often he will bunt/h&r when facing a lefty?

How often against a righty?

I realize the players have individual controls, along with the managerial settings for those two options, just wondering how often he would but/h&r in certain situations. 25, 50, 75, 100% of the time.

If I have the setting to max will he do it every time?

Would where he is batting in the lineup matter?
Most likely 2nd vs. R.....8th vs. L.

Thanks,
Boomer

Alot of questions, just wondering if anyone had any data or any type of clue on how often he would bunt or h&r.

I don't have the data, but you are on the right track in terms of percentages. The computer game is based on percentages of success, and using the individual controls will allow you to fine tune the "acceptable" percentage chance of success. However, HAL still seems to fumble these things a lot, and your best bet is to closely monitor the team and adjust your settings based on how HAL is managing. There is no hard and fast rule, you've got to tweak.

When doing so, be sure not to be impulsive and impatient. It takes a large sample to be certain that your setting isn't working as you think it should. Flip a coin 200 times and it can still land 35% on heads the first 100 and 65% the second 100.

Thanks PJ.

Good ol' Hal...

I can see him now bunting against righties and swinging away against all the leftys.

Hopefully I can get a feel for what he is going to do in certain situations early on in the season.

HAL will do exactly what you don't want him to do, every time, regardless of your settings  :D
