Your Real Opponent is HAL!

I agree with helium...there should be settings available to designate substitution patterns if your team has multiple options. I have Alex Escobar as my only OF sub, but entering the playoffs he only has 19 ABs all season. When I had occasional injuries to Burnitz or Miguel Cabrera, instead of putting Escobar in (with his acceptable D), HAL would always move Gload from 1B and stick him in a corner OF position (with his stinkin' D), and would install Spezio at 1B. There was nothing I could do to avoid that. You should be able to rank preferred substitutions at each position, maybe even rank them two deep or something.

Good job guys. These are good examples. SUch as:

[quote:d0f4177a63]Recently, when the ever-limping Larry Walker went down for the fifth time in 19 games, HAL overlooked Juan (1.09) Gonzalez and Kevin (1.32) Youkilis (with Quinlan moving to right), and went with ole Joe (.50) McEwing. HAL continually favored McEwing, and even batted him leadoff at every opportunity...it got to the point where I wondered if McEwing has relatives at TSN...finally, in desperation, I had to spend good money to jettison McEwing... [/quote:d0f4177a63]

In regard to Cotts, I eventually had to dump him for similar reasons as the McEwing example. HAL loved him too much. I saw too many games go bye bye due to this love affair, and all I got to do is watch.

So, I sucked it up - dumped F. Garcia, and picked up R. Cormier plus Woody Williams. I think (both) will pitch quite well in SAFECO.

Cotts must have been responsible for over 5 losses by himself after 1/2 a season.
