Re: 1986 Free Teams

Our historical single season sets

Buy more teams to get the ones you've alrady managed to count? I'm suprised TSN hasn't alrady done that, it would just be another way for the managers rankings to show who spends the most money, not who's the best Manager/GM.

Only counting the first five teams...

Postby 13Baseballs » Mon May 12, 2008 8:00 am

I'm one of the managers that created more than 5 free teams... I have missed all the posts on this subject, so I'm kind of in the dark as to what everyones feelings are on this subject... my only thoughts, TSN should have stated from the start that there was only a 5 team limit and only the first 5 teams count toward the manager ratings... there was nothing said of such.... had I know this fact, I would have only created 5 teams.... lets stir up the pot and make up some rules as we go along.... who is making these decisions.... it's kind of frustrating, to see two championships and have them not show up on the manager ratings... kind of funny how one set of managers in a league can be rated, but another set would not (because of having more than 5 teams)... what a logistic nightmare.... one more question, since these teams don't count toward the ratings, what about the numbers that the players put up.... will they go toward the record books or are they also treated like they never happened......

You said it all. I am glad more people are weighing in on this subject. Let's keep the pressure on to have all our teams count! I am a paying customer just like I am sure you are. Our voices need to be heard on this matter. It really does upset me that I will not get credit for several playoff and or championship teams, after I put in many, many hours!!!!! I still will continue to be a paying customer, but they need to settle this matter the correct way! ALL TEAMS SHOULD COUNT!!!!!!! YES GEEKOR I AM SHOUTING!!!!!!

They don't care . Your pretty much wasting the effort to get them to change things . I figure the odds be 99% no change ( it's not in the M.O.) 1% maybe another twist but not including all of everyones teams .

By the way : How's $24.95 per '86 team working out ? 1 league full since you have to pay . 1 more league forming in a month . What a great idea !

I'll combine 2 of the posts.

[size=18:afc0b478ad][/size:afc0b478ad]ALL THE TEAMS SHOULD COUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not want to let this issue die, but I agree, odds are slim things will change. I feel the change ( not counting the teams) was a smackdown of at least one manager, and the rest of us were caught up in this @$%&#$ decision.

I happen to be in the one for pay league that formed. I like the 1986 season better than 1969, and many, many other years for that matter. And I will continue to pay and play as long as it is offered(which by the looks of things may not be long). But TSN can not expect building a huge loyal customer base by one free promotion. This should be done every year with a 1 to 5 team limit. And year by year more people may take hold of the game. Several of my friends have. You do not go from being a cult favorite to a McDonald's like profit share in one year. Once every season they should offer 1 or more free teams from a particular year. Some of the most successful business promotions were not immediately a big hit. It takes time to educate the non SOM sports fans on the greatness of the game. They, and we need to snow ball this thing the right way!

As far as the ,"They don't care comment" goes; they should care. I do not see how punishing our whole group over a few bad apples does anyone any good. And any smart business person( I believe Bernie qualifies) should be listening to their customers. Let's hope when all the free 1986 leagues end, more people will reward TSN and themselves by purchasing new teams. But I have heard some say it should be cheaper to buy 1986 teams, and I believe some may be boycotting on that basis. I do not agree with this strategy but respect those that do. And whether they listen to our comments or not, I owe it to myself, and TSN to continue making my concerns known. Even if the odds of change are only one percent.

I don't have a problem with $24.95 for the '86 league. I mean, it's a new set introduced, so it makes sense to me. Of course I wouldn't argue against a cheaper price either, but don't see a reason why they'd do it.

As far as the small number of pay leagues starting up...I think it was just poor timing on TSN's part -

1. There are still a LOT of free leagues wrapping up from their intro offer.

2. They released the much more popular current year set just a couple weeks later, which cannibalized a lot of the customer base that would have bought into '86. I think the '86 intro should have been a few months earlier, or a few months later (half way between the 06/07 or 07/08 sets), so it could stand on its own merits. I think a lot of the single-year-sets players, like myself, would gravitate towards it to break up the monotony of having played just one season for so long.

I find myself with 13 '07 teams, and probably won't go back to '86 til mid to late summer. I like '86, but as an alternative, since in my opinion and can't compete head-to-head with the current season(s).

Wow, didn't mean to ramble there, hope I made sense!

You made a lot of sense to me, and several good points. I agree with all of them! Good luck with all your teams!

I'm new to all this, avid Strato player when I was kid about 25 years ago. I guess I don't see how anyone can ***** about something that cost them nothing. Listen to yourselves, you are actually ******** that somehow you got screwed because [b:2c5220b1a6][i:2c5220b1a6]ONLY[/i:2c5220b1a6][/b:2c5220b1a6] 5 free teams count and not all the FREE teams you got counted.

At what point shouldnt you be happy you got to play the game for free???? Where do they owe us anything out of something free??

If I was to supply you a car for free for the day and filled it up with gas for free and let you drive it for free all day but at the end of the day said you have to give the car back with the gas that was remaining, would you be mad that you didn't get to have the car longer so you could use all the gas?

The point is, be happy you had the car for a day for free, don't ***** them out and complain because you didn't get to use all the gas.

Geez people
