I'm going to post the stats of a few key players from one of my completed 2005 SOM teams, and I want ya'll to guess what that team's final record was. This team played in Fenway Park:

Ace (most expensive starter) - Orlando Hernandez, 12-10, 4.21
No. 5 starter - Rob Bell, 8-11, 6.26
Relievers (used closer by committee) - Justin Speier, 2-4, 14 saves, 3.90; Damaso Marte, 5-2, 11 saves, 2.32; Akinori Otsuka, 2-5, 10 saves, 3.97; Brian Shouse, 3-4, 4 saves, 5.27

Most expensive hitter - Jim Edmonds (.289-.417-.580)
Second-most expensive hitter - Mark Loretta (.313-.390-.461)
Fifth-most expensive hitter - Jason Varitek (.300-.383-.472)
Cheapest everyday hitter - Shea Hillenbrand (.286-.325-.408)

Other notes:

Team had fewest errors (56) in the league. No. 2 team had 69.
Team went with nine everyday starters; no platoons

Post your guesses as to what this team's final record was below!

At least 39 wins because of your saves.. I will add another 12 wins from your pen... thats 51.......

How about 90-72.... just a guess. I am thinking your other guys did well... thought change.... I say 95-67.

Hope I am in the right direction!!!!

64-98 based only on your total number of saves. I used bullpen by committee and had 53 saves and 86 wins(62% of wins saved). You had 39 saves, divided by .62 equals about 63 plus one win for good luck.

I actually had 49 total saves. Two other pitchers I didn't list got me 10 more (Jamie Walker had six and Nate Fields had four).

J-Pav is right. I only had 78 wins. This was one of my biggest disappointments of all my 2005 teams. I expected a lot more from this squad and they just didn't deliver. I had a decent start (13-10) but then struggled the rest of the way.

I think 49 saves divided by .62 comes out to 78. I may have stumbled onto a more accurate formula than the Great Bill James, that is if my math is right.
