Does Jamey Carroll's defensive rating of range 3 errors 4 hurt you that much?

I t hink if you cover him with a good (1 or 2 rated) SS, he will not hurt you that much. He has great obp vs righties....

I've used him twice, both times with Vizquel. One team I had Randy and Pedro and I finished last in the league in GBDP (but I had a WHIP of 1.20) and the other time without the big K guys I finished 2nd in the league in GBDP. So my answer is a resounding.....

It depends.

Vrabek, here's what I've gotten from Carroll:

In Fenway: 599 (AB's)/.274 (BA)/.369 (Slg.)/.368 (OB)

In Wrigley: 648/.293/.386/.379

In Fenway: 623/.242/.315/.333

In Shea: 517/.250/.333/.361

In Petco: 571/.240/.303/.346

He's a real nice #2 hitter vs RHP (pairs nicely with Kotsay in this respect) and seems a decent value for $4 mil. I haven't worried too much about his "3" range, which is partially offset by his "e4" anyway.

However (big [b:27cf7daa17]HOWEVER[/b:27cf7daa17]).... haven't won any rings with him!
