Theme League 69' Ultimate manager challenge

Our historical single season sets

Postby Assmeriten » Wed Jan 25, 2006 8:29 pm

I wanted Boston.......

Now no Rico, Yaz, Lyle, :(

Maybe I'll take an expansion team and see if I lose 100+ games.

Course expansion team takes divison and then most likely gets killed in opening round of playoffs, wonder how to give them a slight chance of making it to the finals?

[quote:9b4dc0b282]Just a note. It's great to see GeneGrid and FAaron in this league. They
are classic veterans in this game. We will have the best of the best playing. [/quote:9b4dc0b282]

Back at you Kev. I have really enjoyed the Misfit Bro league, especially the ongoing banter. This should be an interesting league b/c it challenges each manager to try to get the best from the worst. I am not even sure which franchise I'm planning to take. Looks like I have to hit the books on this one!

Cleveland only has 9 pitchers. You need 10 pitchers to complete an AD card. Do they just draft a pitcher from one of the teams not in the league and then drop him before the season?

Glad to have you Merm----Assmeritan.. The way I figure it if you have one of the expansion teams and win your div you still have a pretty decent shot at getting to the final with a 5 game opening round anything can happen. I would also say it is a pretty safe bet the wild card won't come out of the WEST  I guess it is possible though with those four playing each other alot. That is what makes this league so interesting to me is putting those four in the same division. As far as the Red Sox, I think everyone wanted them. Can you imagine the HR's Yaz and Rico would have had against these pitching staffs  Anyway, if you guys have some buddies with some credits let em' know we still have a couple of openings. Hopefully we can fill this and Lotto tonite and draft tommorow. With no waiver Period I think we have a shot at starting this league on monday. (not real sure about that).

I think now that Howard leads the league in homers. Can we get a list of which park goes with each team. To start on Monday we need to draft tonight (1/27) I think. Do the Pilots lose that pitcher or was that just a suggestion that was thrown out there?

Brunet will not be a Pilot in our league but an Angel. So figure that in when considering the Pilots or Angels.

The league must be created and filled by midnight Friday night for a Monday start.

Thanks Randy, I was just looking them up. Also yes, George Brunet belongs to the California Angels. So whoever selects the Pilots he is off limits and the Angels must select him for his 5th starter. Heck I wouldn't mind having the Angels myself

LM Bombers bring up a good point about Cleveland only having 9 pitchers-1 short for draft clique. So one other addition to the Cleveland staff. It would be the right thing to do I think to add Juan Pizzaro (Oak) to the Cleveland Pitching staff. Whoever selects Cleveand can use Pizarro as one of their pitchers. He should have been an Indian in this set anyway. He pitched in 48 games with Cleveland and only 3 with Oak!! Why was he an Oakland pitcher?? If the Cleveland manager doesn't want him after the draft you can drop him if you prefer. Any objections? Seems the fairest to me. So Brunet goes to Angels, not the Pilots and Pizzaro must be drafted by the Indians as 10th pitcher.
