Two other draft problems guys........Yankees only have 9 pitchers as well, and the Phillies only have 13 position players. Add Ken Johnson from the Cubs to Yankees roster. He pitched more for Yankees than the cubs and with Philadelphia the only other guy I can come up with is Don Lock from the Red Sox. I guess the manager who takes Phil will just have to pick up anyone else and then drop them after the draft. So, add Ken Johnson to Yankees from the cubs..........Add Don Lock to the Phils from Red Sox and any extra player to drop after the draft...........I don't see any other draft problems so we should be set. I know it is getting kindof confusing but I think we're there now. Hang with me....

One other quick suggestion...How about we rank the teams 1 thru 12 (1 being the best and 12 being the worst).

From my quick analysis last night, I found that there is quite a difference from San Diego and Washington. Instead of letting the lottery determine a winner in the league (the Guy with Washington as an example), let's have a 1 Player Draft (positions determined prior to the lottery)

So let's say you win the lottery with the number 1 team pick...perhaps you may want (San Diego and McCovey assuming San Diaego is the worst team)...Instead of (Washington and Davey Johnson assuming Davey would be about the best player left after the worst 11 teams pick a player)...as an example.

I realize that this would not give you a true original team, but I can assure you that the teams would be evened out and made much more competitive. Besides, players from undrafted teams are already being placed on teams becasue they do not have enought pitchers or hitters...

I really do not think those teams in the West stand a chance...But if each of them were able to pick up a McCovey, R.Jackson, F. Robinson, Petrocelli....then the East Teams could pick up Rose, Powell, Clemente, Wynn...and then the Central teams could pick up Aaron, C.Jones, Bando, Killebrew...that would really even up the league....I just used those players as an example (each team could pick up any player hitter or pitcher from the remaining undrafted teams)

Just a thought...

League set up

Postby LMBombers » Thu Jan 26, 2006 11:50 am

As an FYI we will need to set up this league as a 200M league. With any of the other salary caps there is a minimum 60M team salary. Most of the teams in this league will have a team salary under 60M.

I would suggest the below settings:

200M, No DH, no waivers, standard points

Bombers make a point about the 200 mil salary. Some of the teams will be below 60 mil so we have to set it up that way....Also this IS a DH league. As far as Merms' suggestion I would rather stay the way it is and keep the original team concept. I still think it will be very competitive the way it is.

Merm, There would be enough great players to pick from teams not on one the teams in this league that it wouldn't make much difference IMO. The 12th best player will not be much worse than the best undrafted player I don't think. Here is a partial list of players not in this league:

Aaron, F. Robinson, Niekro, Boog, Blair, Rico, Bench, Rose, Reggie, McCovey, Bonds, Bando, Gibson, Marichal, Carlton, Killebrew, Cuellar, Koosman, Cleon Jones, Yaz, Santo, Oliva, McAuliffe, Lolich, Dick Green, Agee, etc, etc.

There would be no advantage to the first pick over the 12th pick in this list.
