Phillies extra player

Postby FAaron » Thu Jan 26, 2006 9:08 pm

According to my sources, the Phillies had the following players in '69 who don't appear in the card set: Rich Barry (20 games, 32 ABs, 9 games on D in the OF and a heck of a free throw shooter, but not much of an outfielder...oh, what's that...it was RICK Barry....oh...nevermind), Gene Stone 18 games, 28 AB, 5 games on D at 1B), Scott Reid (13 games, 19 AB, 5 games on D in the OF), Vic Roznovsky (13 games, 13 AB, 2 games on D at C), and Leroy Reams (1 game, 1 AB and shouldn't have bothered bringing a glove to the majors b/c he never got to take the field in his only game in the Show). To allow the manager of the Phillies to have 25 players, we should allow him to draft an additional position player worth $.50 from any team not in the league. If there are any players who could skew things (like a Lee Maye), then we should list them as embargoed players.

Any thoughts?

What about teams with to many players

Angels 12 pitchers/ 17 hitters so 29 total
Pilots 12 pitchers/ 20 hitters so 32 total
Expos 13 pitchers/ 17 hitters so 30 total
Royals 11 pitchers/ 18 hitters so 29 total

Do the extra players give those teams a minor league system to work with?

Was Yankees and only 9 pitchers covered yet?

Why is DH being used, it didn't exist in 1969 and we are trying to do better than the teams did in real life with the rules of baseball being what they were in 1969.

The managers of the teams with too many players can choose not to have some of them on his roster if that is his wish. Otherwise he ADs 25 of them and picks up the rest afterwards.
