Sleezy Pre-Card

Went ahead with my pick so as to not hold us up. Let me know if you want me to revert my pick.

If my calculations are correct - Hawk's time expired at 2:10 PM and Hendrix is on the clock until 6:10, then Sleeze may pick - with Hawk and Hendrix free to pick at any time.

Saturday afternoon update

Postby mfsleeze » Sat Jan 28, 2006 5:21 pm

Hendrix is up, hawk can pick anytime. I have to go out after 6 so I'm going to make my picks as soon as Hendrix picks or his time is up.

I'm able to check in on a pretty frequent basis and can help with proxies if anyone wants to. Just shoot me a PM and I'll help.

Are we skipping people on weekends? I'll go ahead and pick.

On a related note, I went to A's fan fest today. I was suprised that Frank Thomas was there. I got to shake his hand when he was signing autographs.

Good thought - since we're not in a hurry, I'll hold the clock until we hear from hawk

I don't mean to be difficult or anything, but what's the point of having a clock if we're not going to enforce it? Either we have a clock or we don't. I'm fine with either, but I don't see the point in having a rule, and then not following it. Maybe it's because I'm a stickler for procedure and fairness, but you can probably tell that already. I'd just rather it be one or the other, not some wishy-washy we'll follow it until someone breaks it rule. And yes, I do realize we have plenty of time, but I'd prefer getting it done sooner rather than later, since it's is already consuming me and my thoughts. Maybe I need to seek some professional help - which I'm sure my wife would agree with :? .

The problem is a lot of live leagues turn off the clock on the weekend and I never specified a rule about the weekends. So I'd rather not have someone miss 2 picks than have the rest of us wait a little bit - going forward we'll have a 7 day a week clock.

I was under the impression that there was no clock during the weekend. Maybe several of us were, guess we just need to get on the same page :D
-------------------------
On the process of getting on the same page, I guess it would be a good idea to make sure we're all on the same page with the rules.

This is so far what was written on the main thread

[quote:1cf0cc2077]

"No hurry" draft, 4 hour time limit for picks, deadline end of February (I'll have to do the math on that)

Draft a full team. We will play a season when the new cards come out, wait until the all star break, and allowing 10 keepers, redraft and play a new season. Then, in January next year we will allow 5 keepers from your "second" team and hold a new precard draft for next year.

We can hash out rules, such as placeholders for guys without 2006 cards who may have a 2007 card, etc. Salary cap will be 80 Mil, with DH.
[/quote:1cf0cc2077]

This on this thread
[quote:1cf0cc2077]
1. Serpentine draft
2. Your team must fit under an $80MM cap, once the cards are released you'll have 3 days to trade or drop guys to get under the cap. Once everyone is under $80MM (you may need to go under 25 players to do so), we will have a supplemental draft for the dropped players and/or any additional pickups you need to make to draft a complete lineup (25 guys). Post-draft, no roster size requirements and free agents can be picked up as per normal TSN rules (waivers).
3. Divisions will be teams 1-4, 5-8, 9-12 in draft order
4. If you draft someone who does not have a 2005 TSN card, you lose that pick and just pick up a player in the supplemental draft once the cards are out. [/quote:1cf0cc2077]

Then we added the Stadium.

I'm cool with all rules, no matter what we choose, but I do have two questions:

1. About stadium: I am assuming that we will play the two seasons with this year's cards on the same Park that we draft, right? What about next year as well? If you want to change park you get only 4 keepers for next year?

2. If you drop or trade one player on your first team does that mean that you give up your rights to keep him for the second team? and, equally, from the second team onto next year? Or you essentially have the rights to the 25 players you drafted through '06 no matter what?
