Theme League 69' Ultimate manager challenge

Our historical single season sets

Postby LARRYLANG » Sat Jan 28, 2006 9:36 am

I first started playing strat in early 70's. Just got back from o'seas and started playing with a buddy awaiting discharge from the Army. I was hooked from day one. Although with my record online you would never know I have been playing so long  Growing up I never even knew about strat----We played the ole' All-star baseball with the spinners---Anybody remember that game??

Just realized my Angels have no Back up 2b. That sucks!! At least Alomar can only be injured for 3 at a time.

I want to thank everyone in the league (except bomber) for [u:200c785358]not[/u:200c785358] picking my Chisox. My roster is so thin, the last thing I need is for someone to Gowdy my chances.

BTW, hardest part of filling out the team was deciding on a manager. I finally settled on Al Lopez over Don Gutteridge.

To keep the other thread alive, I've been playing SOM since '78 (although my set came with "75 Twins and Giants, so I was able to put Montanez on the Mets -- and they still lost 100 games!)

Played Strat Baseball, Basketball and Football.

I think baseball was 75, and I also have 2002. Me and my bro spend hours in our room playing that dang game. Guess we were 13 and 11. Then got football in about 78 or 79, plus basketball. Alwys played the basic version, not the advance.

Course I won the All Star game with Aaron hitting a 3 run HR off off Rawley Eastwick with 2 out in the 9th to win it.

Oh, to be that young again with no cares in the world.

Oh wait, I play Strato now like I have no cares and lots of Green.

Is there a way to view my team now or do I have to wait for the league to be full? :?:

Midgets---if you are in another 69' league go to free agents on that site and select your Dodgers team and you can check the whole team together there.

looking back i see my 62-100 team was a mix of the indians and the white sox ---- what was i thinkin???

been playing since the mid 70's --- remember use to "keep score" at a local bowling alley to get enuf $$$$ to buy the game THEN i'd wait VERY impatiently for the post man EVERY day until i received it! Dad was a HUGE dodger fan (had blue blood in his veins) so i always played against them! Ususally with the Giants cause (as with any decent dodger fan) the 'ol man HATED them!!!!!!!!

good luck to all (think i'm gonna need it - camon Louie & sudden Sam) !!!!

[quote:c368156620="LMBombers"]Thanks for the kind words Pelzer. It is interesting that you think the Royals will have the best record in the league since you had the Yankees as the wild card team playing the Royals.

As you know we have a difference of philosophy. You love pitching and defense and I love those hitters :!: You believe KC will win the west based on their pitching. I believe Seattle will win the west based on their hitting.

Should be fun. I am looking forward to it.

And I think the Expos emerge in the West because of their left handed bats. San Diego has no lefties, KC has Rooker and Butler who are actually better against righties so the only tough lefty they face is Meyer once every 15 starts.
Fairly, Staub and Jones will clean up in Jarry Park while Waslewski, Renko, McGinn and Semebera are very under rated.

I like my Phillies but that California pitching scares the hell out of me and of course the White Sox have the best middle D in this theme to help decent pitching and some good bats. If I had one FA to choose it would be the best reliever available.
