I don't know how long I was the holdup, but I do apologize.

Three rounds of proxies loaded, and I'll check back in tomorrow AM.

Exactly why I went with PNC Park so early (round 10), even though I knew the chance of another team taking it so early was extremely slim. At that point, I could imagine my team without any particular remaining player, but I could not imagine my team doing as well in any other particular stadium.

(Now watch my team end up doing better on the road than at home.)

Chase looks like the next closest alternative to Coors. Ryan Howard, at least, won't object to the switch.

39 picks made today. Not bad for a Saturday.

[b:37051fe892]$ Spent Per Player[/b:37051fe892]

Note that some teams now need to start being cognizant of the max that they can spend on a player. (Dmitri Young is now off limits to Zim13, Calbatross and Turtle.)

Calbatross: 72.58/16 = 4.54 (3.42 Max)
Akindian: 65.51/15 = 4.37
Zim13: 74.05/17 = 4.36 (2.45 Max)
BalmerBaseball: 68.94/16 = 4.31
Turtle: 72.20/17 = 4.25 (4.30 Max)
ElkoSkipper: 65.05/16 = 4.07
HesMeat: 64.38/16 = 4.02
PjRedSoxFan: 62.54/16 = 3.91
Calliaume: 61.41/16 = 3.84
Kramed: 65.01/17 = 3.82
SgtD: 61.11/16 = 3.82
UptownMastermind: 58.64/16 = 3.67

I very seldom play in a no DH league and I wonder if Micah Owen's batting skills are taken into consideration. He's probably a better hitter than what's remaining on the board.

Bad Morning

Postby TomSiebert » Sun Jun 22, 2008 5:20 am

Uggghhhhhhhhhhh. I wake up and find that the draft made good movement last night, but not in any direction that helps me out at all.....Bergmann, who became a bullseye for me the moment Calbatross took AT&T, gone. Reverse LH Lannan, gone. Pair of jacks of all Trades for IF platoon/injury fills Easley and Wiggington, gone, the latter weaseled by my bro Mark AGAIN. Those were literally my top four guys.

With Akindian set to go next, I've put a stop to my proxies because I need to seriously reassess. I'll not get off the computer and will turn the proxies back on before I set up three picks, so we'll make the turn, but this AM unpleasantness has tossed a monkey wrench (or perhaps a barrel of monkey wrenches) into my plans.

And Zim: good call on Owings in an NL-only league. His card says he's an 8N hitter, which means he'll prolly hit better than almost everybody left on the board and half the guys on my team. :)

Finally: Dmitri Young is one of my sentimental MLB favorites, a comeback player of the year who came back from a lot worse than a sucky couple seasons, but he's way overpriced at that position with that glove. He'll surely end up on somebody's team that's got a lot of ca$h leftover after the draft (hello, Jason), but as much as I'd like him to backup Teixeria, I don't see how that happens.

Morning

Postby moneymaze » Sun Jun 22, 2008 6:17 am

I'm at my sister's house, which has a DSL internet connection but no wireless (which means I can't connect on my laptop, only her PC) and no Microsoft Office or comparable spreadsheet program (which means I can't use my Excel spreadsheet to see who's available). I don't particularly want to go someplace with free WiFi, so the next day or so should be interesting.

That aside, I'm not in awful shape. My starting pitching isn't very good, but at this point the options are so lousy it hardly matters. Of course I would like a righty-killing lefty starter, but there weren't many good ones to begin with, and they're gone now. I know I still need to fill a few key positions, and then after that it's just niche roles. And as for someone like Dmitri Young -- well, with Helton already on the team what purpose would he serve other than pinch-hitter?

I already mowed the yard so I cannot use that excuse  . I am glad I got Coors Field, I almost chose Chase but I like Coors more. SGT D

before church. I'll be around most of the day today, so if it gets back to me and all my proxies are gone, email me at mark.siebert@cox.com and I'll try to pick someone else.
