Hitting vs. Pitching League

Postby bjs73 » Sun Jan 29, 2006 1:41 pm

This theme league was somewhat similar to what you suggest. They put limitations on the payroll $$'s that you could spend on hitting or pitching.

You had to declare if you were a hitting team or pitching team at signup. Pitching teams had to spend the majority of their money on pitching and I think that all the position players had to be less than 4 million.

The hitting team couldn't put anything less than a 4 range up the middle I think. They also couldn't spend too much money on their pitching as well.

Not quite the same as what you suggested but similar.

Maybe a "1-2-3" league?

Here's a variation on that: you have to start a 1,2, and a 3 in the OF, and a 1,2,3,4 in the IF (catchers do not count).

Don't know what we'd do about pitchers, unless it's a 7,6,5 thing (a 7 [or more] starter, a 6 then a 5, the rest immatieral).

Maybe only 2 full time SP, the rest have to be SP/RP (and you have to carry four of them, let HAL choose. Something like that.

another over/under league

another twist would be:over 1 defense(2 or higher)everywhere except you can have 1 "stud" fielder and the pitching would be under 7 starters with 1 stud pitcher 7 or better..studs could be traded but not released....simple but would have to put some thought into managing and still an ample player pool....whadda ya think?
