Bad luck or mismanaged team?

Bad luck or mismanaged team?

. . . or maybe a little of both.

These guys have scored 42 runs more than they're given up, yet 1 game below .500. Lots of games where I get 12 hits and lose 5-4.

I started the year with Trammell, but he was in a prolonged slump and I never really trust him to be consistent. There are two teams dumping like crazy, so I grabbed Pesky when he became available.

Lineup vs rhp:
Pesky
Fox
Speaker
Musial
Shoeless
Rolfe
Valentine
Grote

Musial and Valentine have both been kinda disappointing. Stan isn't knocking in runs against righties. I was considering batting Rolfe cleanup. Another possibility is downgrade Staley to a Lasher/Sisk type and trade in Valentine for Ennis.

Any ideas?

From the stats it looks like your losing close games and winning blowouts . Your staff is not doing its job to me when it counts . The pen has lost 9 games , almost half of your games . It may turn around . I'd give it a bit more time and tinker with your lineup to try to maximize what you have .

If you truly think you have a very good team, my suggestion is to wait it out. Trust your initial judgment. Make no moves...that is the worst thing you can do...make lineup changes if you must, but they are pretty inconsequential. The dice rolls will likely come back around in your favor.

My favorite team started out 30-33. I made no moves, no lineup changes...I just waited. They won 67 of their last 99 to end with 97 wins.
An almost as satisfying team started 63-63 and finally went on a 25-11 tear to finish with a respectable 88 wins.

Crabby makes an excellent point and I have had the same experience many times.

Thanks for the support, doc x.

By the way, you have really been kicking butt lately in Bobby's Mgr of the Year tournament. We are in the playoffs together in League 8 and in the same division in League 10. I can't say that I'm real excited about being pitted against the hot team. :(
