That could be why you are having problems, we're only weeks away from season 2, and the kinds of deals you are looking for MIGHT work better towards the end of that season when teams may be more willing to damn the future if they are close to a championship.
I still think you might be overvaluing your own players a tad bit, but at least now we know where your head has been at
As for myself, I don't like to completely throw away the future, so It's rare that I'd make a deal for a player that helps me now giving away one that helps for next year with out some type of help for the future as well. That could be in the form of a less touted prospect, a Free agent pick next year, or a prospect pick next year. Get creative, you have more assets to trade than just the players on your roster. Just be sure when you evaluate players tha you look at age, performance this year (current card) and future performance (this season's MLB stats).
Rare is the team that makes a trade that doesn't help itself in some way.
Or at least thinks it helps itself.
BTW that doesn't include my Mets, I STILL can't figure out what the hell Steve Phillips was thinking trading Kazmir for Victor BLEEPING Zambrano. Vic must have had pictures of Philips with farm animals or something, cause, even when the trade was made NO ONE thought it was beneficial to the Mets. That one will burn for years!!! He should NEVER get another GM's job based on the one trade.
( Can you telll I'm STILL bitter  )
