LOTO(AKA League Of their Own) 05' CONSOLATION LEAGUE

Postby ANDREWLAITURI » Sat Jan 28, 2006 11:32 am

Well the injury bug continues to stay busy attacking my team, a couple of 3 gamers, a 6 and now an 8 gamer to Uribe. It's looking like Blum is gonna be seeing plenty of playing time over the course of the season, fortunately his defense isn't too bad at 2b. Walker, the guy I figured to go down first hasn't been injured yet but I know that one is coming. It's gonna be interesting to see how the team holds up during these injury strewn periods. Now that Penn's team is starting to wake up our once quiet and uneventful Central division is really gonna tighten up and become a dogfight.

For those that like to watch "trainwrecks" here's my nightmares so far...

First 2005 team, just wanted to start playing the online game again after
2 years away, finished 4th at 70-92.

http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/baseball/stratomatic/2005/team/team_other.html?user_id=33801

Second 2005 team, was with most of you folks in the fun Rookie/Vet league, another 4th place finish 76-86.

Third 2005 team moved to a more neutral Skydome, looks like I'll end up with similar non-success !! Currently 4th place 57-84.

Fourth 2005 team, went to SBC and tried a "super-duper, super expensive bullpen theory", started out ok, but now my lack of offense has come back to haunt me, currently 55-65 and of course in 4th place !!

My 5th try, giving up on Pitching, let's try offense at Ameriquest. It's early and I just dropped one game below .500 at 28-29, but in 2nd place. This team may be used to help with experiments to help my current team here !!

So you can see why I'll always hold my breath when I start out doing well. The tide already seems to be shifting on me. I've lost a pivotal part of my pen (Osuna) for 6 games !!

I may start hoping for a "strike-shortened" season so I can finish in
first !!! :D Whadda ya say, let's have the first Strat-O-Matic labor dispute !!

And Tyber, you realize that you just "jinxed" Walker for tonight's
series !! Bite your tongue when you start talking about injuries :)

If Walker does get hurt tonight in one of your games I'm going to be
very careful about what I say in these here message boards, the powers
that be may be watching us warped folks !!!

I am also on the supersticious side...but it looks like Walker survived the night :D

I used to be very conservative when it came to injuries then I remember reading Luckyman's post on the winningest teams and at one point he noted that the teams were not afraid of platoons nor of injuries...guess he made my mucho macho (ay caramba!!!) side come up and I ended up like a McFly saying "hey, I'm not afraid of injuries...I'm not a chicken!" Since I have had my fair amount of INJ 6 and 5 guys...really like doing so, even for an INJ=6 type of guy you can sqeeze a good 400-450 PAs at quite a good price, usually.

You want to know how supersticious I am....well, I let the cat out of the bag in the [b:8f1a7f087f][u:8f1a7f087f]Preseason preparation thread[/u:8f1a7f087f][/b:8f1a7f087f] as well as several other mighty fine players, I might add.

Wow! Talk about smoke and mirrors getting it done. Fourth in the league in offense with a team that is only hitting .228 with a .410 SLG and a .309 OBP, not to mention that the only offensive stat I'm leading the league in is strikeouts?! (Which is truly offensive!)
Not to strike too much fear into the hearts of you fellas but just look at these stunning BA from some of my star players...
Larry Walker .164
Dustan Mohr .100
Juan Uribe .196
Eric Chavez .227
Talk about your Twilight Zone Strat team!

My pitching has truly been my saving grace here in the early going.

If this team of mine actually starts hitting and my pitching holds up, look the heck out cause who knows what'll happen??

I Love the three game sweeps, especially following being swept :)

Robert's bringing his CHA CHA's in tonight, but luckily for me it looks
as though Bonds, Glauss and Sierra will be in street clothes. Hope I can
take advantage of this break. I'll still have to face the Big Unit though.

There used to be a rumor in Phoenix...

Postby ROBERTVOZZA » Mon Jan 30, 2006 4:31 am

...When RJ pitched here, that his real nickname was the bIG Eunuch - because he really only had 1 testicle...At least that's what I used to tell my wife...For awhile, she believed me. BTW, I also started that rumor.

Holy Macaroni...I have been away all week and have barely monitored my team. Just got done working the 3rd straight double after being away for 4 days...I am very fortunate to only be 5 games back of TRich.

I am shopping Barry Bonds...I sent an offer to Penn, but haven't heard back yet. Am also considering an offer to Bigmahon, if he might be interested. But it looks as tho he may be doing ok with his team and may not want to9 deal. I hope I can spend a day tomorrow figuring out any changes that might be helpful. I am falling asleep at the computer...Better gat some rest. SWP
