Thanks for hopping in John! (Moriarity) Most of you have probably played against him before and Charlie (cb3137) is a long time member of JOEOC's LA-Z-BOY League and an all around good guy as well as a tough manager! I want to thank them for joining us. I called Dugger again and just got voicemail. I don't think I'm going to hear from him so I hope he's ok and hasn't had a relapse of some sort.
I have been getting emails and PM's about the draft Friday night suggesting we go ahead or we wait. There seem to be two different camps on this issue and the last thing I wanted to do was get people upset about the decision to draft now instead of holding off for the release of ATG IV. Nor was it my intention to hold the league hostage with the idea that your either with us, or your out. The biggest reason I had for moving on with the draft is my belief that the last release was pushed back several times. I researched that tonight on the message boards and it looks like it was only delayed once. From what I could find out, the original date was set for late July. It was released the first week in August. Not much of a delay. (See ATG Forum pages 104 and 106)
I still have doubts, if Bernie is getting into all the code involved in relief pitching and so on, that it will be released the second week of August but I do believe he's working hard to get it out as soon as he can. Some of you know I work for FEDEX. I also live in Michigan which has been hit very hard by tough economic times. Everyday I see businesses that are laying people off (and I'm talking white collar professionals as well), or closing altogether and nice homes in good areas with forclosure notices on the doors. The housing market is so bad we could actually pay cash for the cottage we bought up north...and my wife and I are not rich people! My point is, everyone goes into a feeding frenzy with drafts once the new ATG's are released and not all of us, myself included, have a wealth of credits stored away. In retrospect I probably should have taken this a little more into account before deciding to go ahead with the draft. For that I apologize! If anyone wants to be upset with someone, it should be me.
Nevertheless, I do think we should plan on drafting Friday as I don't want to keep flip flopping back and forth. We only need to replace Dugger now, unless I hear from him, which I think is unlikely. Once everyone has their state pick in, we'll use the next night's lotto to determine draft position.
I'll keep everyone posted on this forum as we go.
