LOTO(AKA League Of their Own) 05' CONSOLATION LEAGUE

Postby cummings2 » Wed Feb 01, 2006 8:56 pm

Well, I usually don't move until after game 42 so it's also uncharted territory for me. Already maxed out on salary loss but I kinda like 4 guys with an OBP of 400 + atop the LU. With a not too shabby SLG either. Have never played Bonds nor have I been inclined to, but as my 05 legs come to an end I thought it'd be cool to try Bonds. Also wanted to try Pujols and Berkman but what are you going to do eh?

Ty, hope you know I was joshing around, you know how I'm far more likely to break into a laughing fit than a hissy fit...but now that I know you swept me to keep AT with company then it's all cool. :D

Ya know...Klesko, Berkman, Bonds, Rolen A. Jones: 3 games in Ameriquest vs Milton, Westbrook and Alvarez to score 6 runs in 16 hits it makes me......

Don't know why and I certainly don't want to wax philosophical but...in a strange way, I enjoyed reading the recaps, first time in a long while. I think I should always be reminded that life is what we make of it and I for one have always been far more interested in the good times than in the bad times. So what, I've been swept by Big, Ty and Jeff. 3 class acts and really cool guys I am glad to "hang around in cyberspace" with.

It's good to be back.

:? but 8) as always

Congrats Jeff :D

[code:1:3e8e4c457a]FOR SALE: One Ballpark, barely used. Ameriquest Stadium, home of Elvira's LeatherKnockers. For the right deal Elvira promises to throw in an original (only slightly used), signed, pair of rubber molded leatherknockers in their own handy carrying case.[/code:1:3e8e4c457a]

Team manager Jessica Rabbitt is having to spend a lot of time behind the closed doors of GM Elvira's office due to the team's poor showing at Ameriquest. Not only are they 4-8 at home, they are 0-3 away at Ameriquest (vs Puddle Jumpers), giving the Leatherknockers a 4-11 record at Ameriquest and an 11-4 record elsewhere. "Why can't we play at Elsewhere Stadium!" Jessica was heard lamenting by the office staff straining to catch every sound (such as those strange paddycake like noises) coming from the office. Things are likely to get worse as the homestand continues tonight against the Goats. Or is that the Sheeps? Either way, Elvira has ordered the grounds crew to let the grass grow especially high to distract Goats fielders into a feeding frenzy and help the poorly performing offense.

:lol:

Good one Charlie. Hmmmm Elvira and Jessica in the same room...Kinda like Haiti's flag if you think of it...with me (of course) being that thing in the middle, sandwiched between the "ondulating red and the seductive black".

I'm going to make sure Jessica and the coaching staff understand that Baseball is very much unlike golf -it's THERE where you shoot for the lower score.

Ty, I...I really don't know how to say this but...you see...aaahm...well, first of all I love you too, you know... but... I've been strat-ing with others too. It's not that I don't want to netplay with you...its not you its me. I'm not a one-on-one netplay kinda guy...you knew that when we started up! WHY DO YOU KEEP TRYING TO CHANGE ME!!!!

Ooopsy sorry, got carried away over there...but you see I was nice. I know my humor sometimes offends some so I pulled back on a few ones back there "breaking up" with Ty, oooh boy when I started typing all sort of strange stuff came up inside my sick head, I think I was going to say something like wanting to experiment others strat-ers, jump in a big orgy of strat wth "Big", ET, Elvira and Farmer Phil to roll around in those muddy ashby puddles and do da CHA CHA nakid with them.

But well, you know...that's right...(pregnant pause)... riiiiight I think I'll be going now.

Considering how my team had played going into last night, the last thing I was expecting was to sweep T.Rich's 18-9 squad. Technically though my team was designed to do well in pitchers parks (despite the really poor home start), and I got a great start from J. Lima who I decided to use as a spot starter late. Hopefully my team will enjoy the feel of winning and keep it up!

Thought some of you might enjoy this:

Ran some numbers quickly trying to adjust my teams OBP to the ballparks and pitching staffs likely to face.

(I know -it's sad what I do on my lunch break)

Numbers are rounded and some adjustments were, to be honest, through guess-timates

Anyhoo, this is my prediction for my teams' OBP:

Klesko = .355
Berkman = .402
Bonds = .554
Rolen = .362
Jones = .305
Molina = .271
Perez = .248
Sanchez = .245
Reese = .237

My team's OBP should end up somewhere around .338

Why do I post this? easy, at the end of the season we can come back and read this "time machine message" and confirm my incompetence with simple math.
