An NLD Team! For those of you not in the know - NLD stands for New Live Draft - and it refers to a live draft league that has been going on since 2002.

In any case this is another example of an SP winning MVP & CY YOUNG ...

Could you imagine what the team ERA/WHIP would have been without him?

Some times you'll get lucky with a talented but injury prone player. I remember having Larry Walker with his 3/11 injury roll and still getting 150+ games sometimes.

However I don't think I have seen a guy shrug off so many injury rolls. This guy played in more games than D. Ortiz who had 600 PAs and a 2/12 injury roll (ie could only get injured for max of 3 games)!

I also got another great performance from Randy Johnson, and in Citizens Bank Park no less - no MVP though. ;)

I believe it is probably a popular assumption that hitting squads are more likely to win Championships that teams whose strength is pitching. I personally do not have the stats to know for sure either way. I do feel that my pitching teams. while just as likely to do well record wise, do tend to win less championships.

However this season I was lucky. Normally I tend to only use 1 Stud SP, because I always seem to have difficulty getting 2-3-4 SPs to all have good seasons. This time though, with 3 aces & 1 cheap starter, I was able to achieve great success.

I would also like to acknowledge the success of the cheap bullpen that allowed me to spend 22m on starting pitching. Especially one Lance Carter!

A mostly successful example of a 4 stud rotation. The difference between this & the previous link is two-fold. Firstly that team won the Series while this pitching based team came up short. Secondly this was a 100m cap while the former was 80m cap.

I have a suspicion that higher cap levels lead to more offensive based teams, if only because it is easier to afford 4 stud pitchers and a cheap offense than it is to afford 9 stud bats and a cheap rotation, in lower cap leagues. ;)

One interesting thing about both seasons is that while I was not the league leader in pitching, I was not the last place offensive squad either. A lesson to be learned from this is to make sure you get good value from your cheap offense when using stud pitchers, or vice versa.

Ok so here is a team playing in Citizens Bank Park. So naturally you'd be expecting to see a great season by a batter. Well that is where you'd be wrong. ;) Only one of my bats hit over 100 RBI and none of them topped 40 HR.

Rather this is for Huston Street. What a great relief effort!!

Also some nice seasons by R. Harden and Z. Duke. Anyone else remember this one year wonder of the Pirates? ;)

Nice season from Todd Jones.

My favorite cheapie in the pen, with this set was Carrara. :D

3- 50+ HR guys (Kent, Bellhorn and Hunter)
3- 40+ HR guys (Giambi, Chipper and Anderson)

Anderson was on fire all year. 69 doubles!

The pitching was bad. 5.85 ERA/1.72 WHIP during the season.

But in the post season, posted a 3.88 ERA/1.22 WHIP!!

2007:

http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/stratomatic/playoffs/team_other.html?user_id=110913&stats=sim

Had a team era of 3.01/1.19. Looks good but was in RFK so not as good. Jimmy Rollins had 32/111 to lead the team. I ended up with 94 wins and missed the playoffs.
