Mid/Late-Season Addition Help

Mid/Late-Season Addition Help

Postby Rant » Thu Feb 02, 2006 6:09 pm

Any advice from the braintrust on a (sub $2.7M) DH against righties for a Petco team?

I face mostly righties, and recently dropped a utility man to look for an upgrade on W. Delgado. I don't have a lot of pop, but have been manufacturing runs. Some candidates I've thought about are Segui (I could keep an E. Young/W. Delgado backup), Davanon, Piedra, Ibanez, Holliday, Mueller, Sweeney.

Other stadiums in my league are Coors, Camden, and Wrigley.

Thanks!

Mueller and Ibanez have both done well for me, just a bit injury prone. Depending on what spot you need for ytour lineup, Davanon is a great leadoff platoon with E Young (although Mueller can lead off as well).

I like DaVanon and have used him in Petco. He did well for me.

If you're lacking some pop, Davanon isn't your man, especially with a Wrigley AND Coors in your division.

My choices would be:
Holliday or
Larkin

If you had more $ to spare...
I'd go with:
Thomas
Bagwell
Winn
Monroe
or Jimenez

I'd go with Garrett Anderson instead of W.Delgado as dh-vs-rhp.

Thanks for the input. As per lineups, I've been doing this most recently:

Lineup vs. LHP
1. Freel, Ryan (R) LF
2. Castillo, Luis (S) 2B
3. Rolen, Scott (R) 3B
4. Young, Eric (R) DH
5. Snow, J.T. (L) 1B
6. Jones, Andruw (R) CF
7. Estrada, Johnny (S) C
8. Rivera, Juan (R) RF
9. Izturis, Cesar (S) SS

Lineup vs. RHP
1. Freel, Ryan (R) LF
2. Izturis, Cesar (S) SS
3. Snow, J.T. (L) 1B
4. Rolen, Scott (R) 3B
5. Estrada, Johnny (S) C
6. Rivera, Juan (R) RF
7. Castillo, Luis (S) 2B
8. Jones, Andruw (R) CF
9. Delgado, Wilson (S) DH

Sorry for the bad advice. :( Can I just ask...what is "pop"? Davanon can hit and he can run...what is "pop"?

pop=power...rbi production.

rant, I wouldn't use Izturis as #2. You are probably losing many games because of his bunting (unless you check out "no bunting", in which case his offensive weakness is probably costing some runs).

Use Rivera. He has very nice on-base, plus some pop.

Ok thanks. But...if you have fast baserunners ahead of a hitter...does pop really matter. I mean...if you have an exceptionally fast runner on first and the batter hits a single...the guy on first could get to third or even home and there would be your RBI.

I would also bat Jones higher in the lineup, especially vs. RH's...
