That being said, we should not forget one of the golden rule of baseball book on lineup: if your hitters are planned to be down the line-up, you should give credential to defense over offense.

I've been following closely J-Pav. Pretty impressive in my book. You're a bit off the BB record but the team seems to be holding it's own. Thanks for sharing this one!

Here's something even more encouraging- I started the season with a Guillen-Hernandez double play combo and came away with the championship.

It may have been an auto draft, but it was put together on the first day of the season and everyone in the league was a seasoned vet.

Nice job! A well balanced team. You don't see 3s at 2B and SS winning it all too often.

Wow! That team pretty much sucks defensively, other than at catcher and CF. Amazin'!

You can see that the offense would be EXTREMELY consistent. Not too much reliance on the HR it seems, but not exactly small ball.

I'll bet $1 that you did not lead the league in HRs, but probably did in OB, and XBH. No?

J-Pav,

I know this is a concept team, but I still feel you could easily improve your team (and its record) by small changes:

-start K.Robinson at lf
-move Bonds to the 3rd spot
-Start F.Thomas vs any lhp (the card is loaded of on-base vs lhp!!!)
-remove Wolf for a reliever that could help Hammonds a little bit
-increase workload of Izzy.

[b:4f3072bace]luckyman[/b:4f3072bace]:

I already had moved Thomas to #2 in the lineup against both sides a while back.

I changed YA to #3 against both sides.
I added Robinson to the lineup (LF) vs. RHP.

I picked up Seanez (R2) for Wolf.

This team seems right on the edge of breaking out. Hopefully a few changes here will change the karma. Thanks for the advice!

...to be continued...

Here's the last word on playing 3s at 2B, SS and CF backed by a $20 mil pitching staff and winning it all. It can be done.

This team defined [i:93272fc95e]cardiac kids[/i:93272fc95e], with the fourth best league record (83-79) and a painful 11th in team pitching (5.14 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, with a horrendous 1.17 Hits per Innings Pitched, where the defense easily added over 250 baserunners for my opponents).

Fortunately for me, the +393 Beane Count (net walks & homers) kept me competitive, finishing 2nd in offense (951 runs).

More than anything, HAL threw me some love down the stretch. Down three games to one in the Finals and facing RJ in Game 5, I managed to win three in a row and close the deal. More luck than skill, but I guess in the end it shows that it can be done.

Shout out to [b:93272fc95e]luckyman[/b:93272fc95e] who helped with his thoughts for the stretch run. 8)
