What was the problem you had(Aero Dave)?[/quote:d22e9156c8]

The problems I had were:

1. Connection errors.
2. Accidentally drafting someone when just trying to look at his card

I am in that league (where Freddy Sanchez was taken). The guy wasn't at the draft to start and I think he must have accidentally copied a certain level of picks to his list, and didn't include the top players. Does anyone know if Freddy is pick 101 or something that would allow this to happen? He picked something like 6 or 7 guys who cost in between 4.9 and 5 million. I think that's what must have happened. It is kind of unfair (to him and to the rest of us), as the wild card will likely come out of his division, but I was pretty happy getting Ortiz and Pujols with the 12th and 13th picks. Oh well.

J RO...Boom or Bust?!

Postby pcbaseballsims » Tue Aug 12, 2008 10:09 pm

$9M Bust at Rangers Park (HR:1-12). .260 avg/.280 ob vs RHs! 19 HRs
(15 vs RHs) w/ 39 to go...not enough bang for your ($9M) buck$. Not many SBs either.

He'll have a very low OBP, not tons of HRs.

His worth is in all of the doubles and triples that he hits, and that his power is not solely dependant on #s.

Who seems to be the consensus #3 pick in the live drafts?

I had the #3 pick in a live draft a week ago and I considered Rollins for a while and even Peavy for a short time. I decided on Ichiro.

Just like Milter above: I think Mags is a solid #3 pick. You stick him in a hitters park, he can hit in the .370s and higher. I've seen his OBP hit the .470s in some leagues. Surround him with a couple other stud hitters, his runs scored/RBIs are impressive. Not a bad arm and doesn't make errors. His own hitting goes way beyond the amount of hits his "3" rating gives up.

I agree if Mags is available at #3, you jump all over him. But it seem the consensus 1-2 are ARod and Mags. So who is #3?

I can't speak on consensus, as I've only been in one live draft (the one where rmilter took Mags third after Freddy Sanchez was chosen second). I would probably take Chipper third, despite the lack of 600 AB. He gives you one of the best hitters in the game at a position where hitting is difficult to come by. Pena is good, but there are a lot more options at 1b (Thome fell to round 7 or 8, Tex and Youks were available very late as well). It also depends on what sort of team you like constructing. Ortiz is probably the best hitter in the set, but taking him severely limits your flexibility.

I'm not sure there's a clear cut #3, but I'd probably go with Chipper. Just my opinion. I think you can make a solid case for Pena, Chipper or Ortiz 3rd. I think Peavy and Pujols are somewhat overpriced, and Rollins' OBP is too low for my taste.
