Under $4M Hitter/Over $4M Pitcher League

Postby Jablowmi » Wed Sep 07, 2005 12:18 pm

This is a theme copied from the Mystery League group. Essentially, it requires you to carry a squad of players valued at $4M or less with the exception of one "stud" hitter. There will be unique stadiums chosen via lottery (high to low). The draft order of the "stud" hitter will also be based on lottery and will be in reverse order of the stadium draft (so the guy who has the 1st pick in the stadium list will have the last pick in the "stud" draft). After selection of stadium/stud, your team will be selected via autodraft.

Rules

1. Every team must carry a 25 Man Roster (minimum) for the entire season.

2. You must carry 5 SPs over $4 million at all times.

3. No team may carry a hitter with a salary greater than $4 million, except your (1) stud, of course.

4. Your one and only stud must be a position player. Anyone that you choose is fine. That person may not be dropped for the entire season though. Your stud player may be traded however.

5. No $0.75 hitters may be on a roster at any time. Exception: Each team may carry only (1) $0.75 catcher to meet TSN requirement for 2 catchers.

6. NO DH LEAGUE, your pitchers must hit.

7. Your stud player must be placed at the bottom of your autodraft card. Usually this goes without saying but in this case, it should be said to help prevent waiver round jockeying in preseason. If everyone puts their stud at the bottom of the card everyone will be have an equal chance during the autodraft for players and waiver wire priority. Honor system but please follow it.

8. A team may carry more than (1) Stud player if (and only if) that player is acquired in a trade. Otherwise there shall be no more than (1) stud per team. And, again, stud players may not be dropped.

Just in case this league catches fire and fills up soon I want to let you know that I will be out of town Friday and Saturday. I'll be back Sunday morning.

Couple of rules questions:

What's the mimimum price for non-C offensive players? Is it $0.77M?
Can we have a starting pitcher (or starter/reliever) on our staff for under $4M as long as we also have five SP's for $4M or more?

Pillpop, I'd say the answer to your questions are:

1. Yes, the minimum salary for a non-C offensive player is $0.77.

2. Yes, I think it is OK to have an SP that is less than $4M provided you have 5 that are more than $4M. Don't know how you'd do that under the cap.....
