I agree that things should straighten out over the long haul, but it's become almost a sad joke by now. Each day when I check the box scores I think "Ruth has to have hit a homerun in this series..."

A lesson I've learned the hard way in my brief experience on ATGII is not to take things personally or read too much into them. I build my teams exclusively from DiamondDope analysis. I don't dump players anymore. I trust statistical probability enough to suppress gut feelings and just let the math do its work.

Except for Dave Giusti.

With one team I was up by 5 games going into the last 3 series of the season and he blew 4 saves enroute to me choking '64 Phillies-style.

Since then I've conveniently found bullpen alternatives...

I'll say this about my experience with ATG II and that is HAL is a science that nobody understands. Patience is good though, I had a team that started 1-11 and went to 26-37 before they decided it took wins to make the playoffs--which they did tonight as a wild card. Frustration is a part of this game, but hang in there because Ruth will start hitting. My .02 and great luck.
BTW, I agree how useful Diamond Dope can be, even after a 100+ teams. :wink:

He WILL come around. Ruth has been prone to cold spells for me, also. Once had a team where he was hitting around .250 with 20 or so HRs around the halfway point. This was also in a slugging park, with two other slugging parks in my division. My finger had been poised to nuke him for a week. BUT...I stuck with him. I just couldn't believe he wouldn't turn it on. He rewarded my patience, ending the season over .300 with 60+ HRs. His cold spells suck, but his hot streaks are forces of nature that are beautiful to behold! :)

Had Ruth once in a "Homerun Derby" league, all hitter parks. He hit his first HR in game 17! Ended up with 69, so be patient.

I know, I know, it's just dice rolls, but some players do seem to be a bit streakier than others. Or I guess it's just that we notice them more. After all, who really sounds alarm bells if Frankie Frisch starts a season 0 for 30 (like he just did for me)?

That being said, the players who always seem to be streaky for me include Babe, Mays, Enos Slaughter, Ripken, and practically every pitcher I've ever used.

15 games is nothing to worry about. If this mini-slump occurred in the middle of the season, you'd barely notice. As Moriarty pointed out, being at 7-8 with your big guns asleep can only mean good things down the road.
