The Dark Knight League

The Dark Knight League

Postby Al Hogg » Sun Aug 31, 2008 11:09 pm

League Name: "The Dark Knight League"
(Optional team naming theme: Something to do with "The Dark Knight" or DC Comics. Follow up to previous N.L.-only "Iron Man League.")

Current 2007 Player Set
A.L. Players Only (If SOM has them on an AL team, they are an AL player.)
DH used

Live draft on the www.somdraft.com site.
24 rounds - 23 players and a UNIQUE AL stadium.
The last two players we autodraft.
Three hour window per draft pick between 10 a.m-10 p.m. Eastern time Monday through Friday. Enforced after round 1.
Proxies highly encouraged. (The natives in this league get restless! Expect to be called out on the message board if you repeatedly take a long time to draft. That said, if you know you will have limited access on particular days and let everyone know ahead of time, we are a pretty agreeable bunch.)

Salary Cap: $72 million. (We'll set the league up as an $80 million league; you must always have $8 million in the bank.)

Note that due to the limited player set, the max per team that could be spent after the autodraft is $70.56 million. So even with a $72 million cap, be careful about "dumpster diving" for cheap players in early rounds, or it's likely you won't be able to spend a lot of your money. You have been warned.

Draft order will be set by pick three state lottery numbers for the day after the 12th team signs up. Draft will go in descending order of lottery numbers. (In case of ties, we'll look at the previous day's numbers and add as many digits as required to break the tie.)

Divisions will be assigned by reversing the numbers (i.e., 123 becomes 321) and grouping the lowest four numbers in the East, the middle four in the Central and the highest four in the West.

In states with multiple pick threes, we'll use the last drawing unless otherwise specified (such as Zim did below).

Anything else? Well, it's a fun group that tends to have an active league message board. Some of us have been playing Strat-o-Matic online together since 2003 (using the 2002 player set). Typically, we do three seasons a year: Once with players in both leagues ($100 million cap), then an N.L.-only league (no DH), and an A.L.-only league. If you join this league, we'll try to hold a spot for you in the spring when the 2008 player set is released.

Draft Order:
1. The Turtle -TX no Sunday lottery - changed to OK this morning by virtue of geographic proximity - 949
2. Al Hogg - FL - 826
3. Jason (uptownmastermind) - RI - first three digits of Numbers - 808
4. djl3737-minn - 630

9. Akindian - WA - 396
10. Curt (moneymaze) - IL PM - 394
11. Meat - PA - 283
12. Zim - Mass (Early Drawing) - first three digits of Midday Numbers - 140

The Draft Has Been Created on the www.somdraft.com Site

Postby Al Hogg » Mon Sep 01, 2008 12:06 am

I think I've excluded all the NL stadium and (so far) players with salaries $5 million or greater.

I made Meat and Tom administrators.

ThisIsRay (and others who might need a refresher of who is who), some of us still use "old" UserIDs on the www.somdraft.com site:

ElkoSkipper = Al Hogg
BalmerBaseball2 = Tom Siebert
Calliaume = Curt (moneymaze)
SGTD = SGT D (bed)

Thanks, Al !

I've never figured out how to use the Administrator function. It's never worked for me; but I will try, try again if I have to.

help!

Postby uptownmastermind » Tue Sep 02, 2008 9:10 am

I forgot my password and I can't find the email that confirmed my registration a few months back. Who do I contact? Are we using the same handles as we did for IRON MAN?

making the postseason from the 11th draft position is an iffy proposition, but not even being as high as 8th atleast eliminated having to make that tough choice between jeter and carmona!
