Took a quick look today at Big A and Hawk.

Big A's team is really, really under performing. Part of that is because he's very good v LHP and not as good v RHP and has faced a league low 18 LHSP. But, that being said, take a look at these averages:

Martin 236
Polanco 270
Hardy 215
Byrnes 238
Hawpe 269
Cameron 222
Beltre 247

Now, Cameron is probably about right given all the RHP he's facing, and I don't expect much out of Beltre, but the rest are pretty low. Hardy is hitting 197 v LHP

Pujols and Ankiel are the only ones hitting what you would expect. Remember, he's in Citizen's Park.

His pitching besides for Tallet is all pretty much worst than what you would expect too, even in Citizen's. You could argue that Hamels, Moylan and myabe Stree aren't too far off too, but with a good defensive club, I would expect more. I have a feeling he'll make a run, but that the hole is just too deep.

Hawk, I think, is riding a hot streak (7 straight wins) and is in a bubble. His pitching just isn't as good as it's performed even in AT&T (see our pitching staff in the similar Angels). Besides, he's got a 4.02 ERA. I just don't see that continuing.

Besides, the league is so close (again) 9 teams are within 7 games of the best record and within six of a PO spot so a good hot or cold streak could change the order.

The ratings would say that Smokey is going to stay where he is, Warrior and Hawk are going to drop. C2 and Big M are for real, AT will make a run at Hawk.

With Big A so far out of the race, the next 8 teams rate within about 275 points, although that's not a small gap, it's not all that big either.

Interestingly (and disappointingly for me!) the East looks to be the toughest division and the Central the weakest. With Warrior over and Big A under, the West currently has a better record. It will be interesting to see if that sticks.

Anyway, that's what the ratings say. Tell me what they're missing!

my teams never rate well in your system Joe  I guess it is because I dont have a dominate offense or pitching staff. In NLD19 I rated a little better but had the same kind of team. That team was 8th in hitting and 3rd in pitching playing in Dolphins. We finished 84-78 and if not for that colossal collapse going 3-12 to end the season we would have made the playoffs. That team like this team had 1 of the better records most of the season until niners finally drove by me to win the division.
It seems that I can put together better small ball teams than I do power teams.hard to understand how I dont rate well but still stay competitive.I try to get the right players to fit my park and aim for a team that can consistently win 81 games with the plus or minus 10 factor given that this is a dice game.If I get the rolls(which I have so far)the team can win 90-95 games with a very good chance of making the playoffs.
My theory is small ball teams play a lot more 1 and 2 run games than the power teams do so if you have at least a 600 winning percentage in those games you are better off than the teams that are always involved in blowouts 1 way or the other

it also helps picking up a player like Vidro when Hamilton goes down who produces like he has and makes you have to keep him in the lineup

Taking out the mini-slump of the past few days my team has still under performed in a couple of areas.

If my offense was 2nd like the ratings instead of 5th I'd probably be closer to .500. Haven't looked real close but I'm surprised at my record vs lefties since Kazmir might be the only dominant lefty in the Central. Offense is definitely duds & studs with 2B, SS & CF underperforming.

A little surprised at SP's being so bad. Bullpen is about where I expected though.

time to make some moves.

I think at this point my team is performing close to expectations & the ratings. The only area where I think we're underperforming is vs. LHs, particularly Sosa. He's got 80% of his ABs vs LH but has only managed a .600 OPS. With his card in my park, that's pretty sad.

Everything else is close. Kelly Johnson was horrible for me, and so I dropped down even further in D to get Raburn back on the team. He's done ok but also think he might improve a bit. Bannister has been solid since I picked him up, after realizing several teams have RH-heavy lineups.

I like the low-cost Betemit hitting an .850 OPS vs RH in a platoon with Zimmerman.

Anyway, not too far off on rating IMO, I expect us to end up with something like an 85-88 win team. See if that makes the playoffs this year!

Welcome back Chuck! :D

Thanks for the ratings Joe. No real surprises for there as far as the Diamond Kings are concerned.

Speaking of concerned, however, have you seen my record lately?
