I will be out of pocket.....

Postby LANCEBOUSLEY » Fri Sep 05, 2008 5:11 pm

From about 4:30 pacific time till around 10:30.

I have a proxies set up but the peanuts are few and very obvious by now.

Only two picks left so i hope to not hold everything up.

when are we planning to load and draft and once we do will it be frenzy so we can start on monday?

Can't see us finishing loading until tomorrow night... I don't think we can start Monday if that's the case.

If we load tonight, that might be different, but there's still two rounds to go, and loading usually takes a day or so.

I'll be away from a computer for a little bit, but I don't think it's going to get back to me over the next hour.

We're close enough that I understand the frenzy temptation, but we've traditionally always done a waiver wire and I think it is fairer for those who cannot be online when the league runs.

Barring any strange disappearances in the final rounds (a la IrishJoe a few seasons back), this will be by far the quickest 24-round draft we've done. I am pleased and amazed that we are in a position to even consider the possibility of starting on Monday.

I can't, however, imagine finishing loading tonight, and if we finish loading Saturday for a Monday evening waiver wire, that means starting a week from Monday. (That happened in one of my 1986 leagues; I geared up to make a bunch of necessary adjustments immediately after the waiver wire ran, then ended up sitting around for a week.)

Well, maybe it will give me time to figure out a way to improve my relief pitching.

I WISH relief pitching was my worry. I'm really regretting the Kotchman pick at #3 instead of a solid #2 * SP.

What was I thinking?

we actually could have finished and loaded tonight...I set a bunch of proxies in case we got to round 24, which we did, but not enough weasels to get me to my stadium pick, so give me mcafee coliseum

Just made last pick

Postby uptownmastermind » Fri Sep 05, 2008 11:19 pm

Finished a blog post before making the final pick.... yeah, I'm definitely going to make some offers.

Hanna is likely keeping me indoors, so I guess I'll chat tomorrow.

Prefer we waited

I'm GLAD we didn't load last night; I prefer waivers to frenzy (though, let's face it, this is slim pickins), and I like a week to analyze opponents, get to know my guys, prepare lineups and rotations and strategy, talk trades, ruminate the fascinating statistical vagaries of lefty/righty matchups, and scratch my @ss.

Meanwhile, after much contemplation, the Dogtown Dark Patriots, managed by timeless legendary personality Ned "Casanova" Kelly, will field a flawed but fascinating team dedicating its season to the late and likewise F&F Heath Ledger.

Thanks for setting this up, Tom.

The Gotham City Shadows, led by the new arch-villian "The Injector," are ready to go when it's time for the Central. The Injector (who bears a resemblance to Brian McNamee) has assembled a nefarious squad (including Clemens and Sosa) and intends to rule the league with his evil ways!

Reminder to make sure your final two players still keep you under $72 million and to make sure they haven't already been drafted. Note that many 50-centers have already been picked (mostly by me).

On the other hand, since Meat couldn't figure out how to set up his proxies to make sure he got a stadium  , Tyner is available.

Salaries After 23 Players:

ElkoSkipper 71.00
BalmerBaseball 70.99
Zim13 70.91
Turtle 70.87
Calliaume 69.92
Akindian 69.80
Uptownmastermind 69.35
He'sMeat 68.89 (subtracting Tyner)
Calbatross 68.64
DJL3737 66.22
ThisIsRay 64.13
SGTD 62.9
